~~~~~~~~~~Andrew's pov~~~~~~~~~~
As I drove Dawn back into town in my car I decided to look at her phone. In the place where my number is the contact name said 😙😍Andrew 😙😍.
I quickly set it to AGT, and set the ringtone from the generic tone to Broken Halo. After I saved the contact I continued driving to my house, where my love would be safe. Those evil people that call themselves her parents... A real parent doesn't cause this kind of pain for their child...As we pull into my driveway, Dawn sleeping in shotgun, I decide to run in and explain to my parents what happened, leaving out the part where she tried to kill herself... As much for her as it was for me.
"Mom! Dad! I'm home! Can you please come down and talk to me really quick?!" I yelled up to their room.
They came running down the stairs, and relief washed over their faces when they saw I was OK. "What is it honey?" My mom spoke softly, having just woken up.
"It's Dawn... Something happened last night with her parents after I left... They hurt her... Can she please stay here? She's sleeping in the car right now." I spoke with feeling, though trying hard not to cry. No doubt her parents were fighting about me... She hadn't done anything wrong, other than bring me home.
"Well of course son, let me help you with her." My dad walked out to the car with me and picked her up gently as I opened the door. "Where is she gonna sleep though? With the baby coming the extra room is under construction."
Fuck. I forgot about that... "She can have my room for all I care... I just need her to be safe..." I sprint up the front steps and open the door. I catch my dad staring at the bruises on her neck and hopes he doesn't notice the scars on her wrist, slightly exposed from my jacket sleeve lifting.
I ran into my room, quickly cleaned my papers off my bed, and then pulled the blanket back. Fluffing up the pillow I turn to find my dad in the doorway. As I take Dawn from his arms I whisper a thank you to him, hopeful that she wouldn't wake up from all the moving. I tuck her in and cuddle close to her. I'll never let this happen again... I promise... And holding her close, I let myself drift to sleep.
