Jai got out of the car. I stayed there still gripping the steering wheel. Ok I am a friendly person, but new schools always scare me. What if I'm too friendly and people think I'm annoying?
Jai opened my car door. "You coming?" I looked into his beautiful brown eyes. For the past 5 days, everyday I kept falling for him more and more. I wasn't completely sure if he felt the same way but he dropped hints. I knew he liked me but I wasn't sure if he liked me as much as I liked him.
"Yeah, just um I need a minute." I said.
"Scared cause it's your first day of school?" I nodded. "It's ok. You got me, the boys, and Vivian. Plus your good at making friends. Don't sweat it." I unbuckled my seat belt and grabbed onto his hand as he helped me out.
When I got out of the car I instinctively pulled down my skirt a little. These dumb uniforms made me so self conscious. It was a white button up and a blue tie. The skirt was dark blue and with the shoes we were required to wear black flats and knee high socks. I walked arm and arm into the school with Jai. I felt like a bunch of eyes were looking at me and I cowered behind Jai a little, his body being much taller than me making a good shield.
"Relax. See no one's making fun of you." He motioned to the kids going to lockers, talking to friends, and just hanging out. I slowly stopped cowering behind Jai as he helped me find his locker.
"You have it right next to Skip. Well about two down. That's fine you'll have a friend here." He grinned at me as he fiddled with my lock. I leaned against the locker next to mine as Jai tried opening mine. I had finally met Skip and he seemed like the kind of guy that got laid every night. Turns out he was just really funny and... spazzy.
A ditsy looking brunette came up to Jai and said, "Hi Jai! I've missed you so much!"
"Oh hey." He said giving her a quick hug before going back to opening my locker.
"Who's your friend here?" She asked trying to look as friendly as possible but she asked that question through gritted teeth.
"This is Summer. Summer this is AJ."
"Nice to meet you." She gave me a smile and then automatically redirected her attention back to Jai. "So Jai Tolo's coming up! Hoping somebody will ask you?" Aj asked.
"Finally!" My locker popped open and Jai moved away to let me put my stuff in it.
"What?" AJ asked.
"Oh nothing. Tolo, well yeah I hope this one girl ask's me, but I don't think it will happen." He stuffed his hands in his pockets as I put my math book and geography book in my drab locker.
"Your so cute when you do that!" She said.
"Um do what?"
"Put your hands in your pockets. Anyway I got to get to class. See you later Jai." In the corner of my eye I saw her flash the biggest smile possible.
"Well she seems nice." I muttered.
"Hey if your jealous of her don't be." He knelt down and put a hand on my cheek so I was looking at him. "She's liked me since well forever. Not my type."
My jealousy slowly faded away when he said that. "Anyway we have 1st and lunch together. I suggest you hurry up. Class is about to start in 4 minutes and the walk is kind of far from here to there."
I slammed my locker. "Well then let's go!" I sprinted forward until I got to the end of the hall. Jai quickly caught up.
"Wow. Your fast!" He said slightly out of breath. "Do you play any sports?" He asked as we turned the corner and outside into the courtyard.
