Xander Bogaerts was like a fever Raquella Devers couldn't sweat out. He always said the right things to make her seem like he loved her, but he really didn't. He always treated her like garbage and not like a significant other.

At first, Xander was so sweet to her and she fell in love with him even though she wasn't supposed to. Being Rafael Dever's twin sister, she was't allowed to date his teammates. It was Xander's charm that reeled her in the first time she met him.

Her brother had just been called up to the big leagues and she was beyond happy for her brother. She quickly found comfort in Xander due to him being close to her age and because he speaks Spanish fluently. It was the same reason why her brother grew close to Xander as well.

One late night drunk hookup turned into so much more between the two. They started seeing each other behind her brother's back in early August. However, by October, they were history. Xander broke her heart by cheating on her.    

'Cause how is the man of my dreams. Not a man of his words? And how is the man for me. Just a man that makes me hurt?

One day she was heading over to Xander's place. She wanted to surprise him and stay the night. Her brother had gone on a family date with his girlfriend and daughter, leaving Raquella alone to do as she pleases. She figured that would be her chance to spend some quality time with her secret man. However she arrived at his place, using the spare key he kept under the doormat and entered the apartment. She heard noises coming from the bathroom so she went over there only to see Xander fucking some other girl in the shower.

Tear spilled from her eyes and she held back a sob as she quickly walked out of the apartment. She made it back all the way home and deleted every picture she had of him on her phone. She ripped up and threw out every gift he gave her and vowed to never date any of her brother's teammates again.

She always said she would never open herself so quickly to men because they only break your heart when you give them what they ant right away. However, she always found herself in the same cycle. Xander wasn't the first guy to break her heart so early in a relationship. Raquella had gone through it countless times back in DR. She just didn't thin it would happen to her in America.

I almost lost my mind, yeah. I left myself behind, yeah. I almost crashed ad fell right from the sky. I took a chance on this, yeah. I took too big a risk, yeah. And now I'm left with pain to get me high

Raquella has fallen into a deep depression since Xander broke his heart. Was she not good enough to receive love? Was she not pretty enough? Or was she only good for sex and nothing else? The problem with Raquella is that she falls in love too quickly. She falls for any guy who sweet talks her and shows interest in her and that's her downfall. She's an expressive lover and very quickly into relationships, she becomes intimate with the guy, thinking that he's gonna be the one. Unfortunately, every time that's happened, those guys have all ended up breaking her heart.

As messed up as it is to say this, she learned a valuable lesson from this. She now knows she needs to realize her self-worth and know that she deserves the damn world. She just needs to find someone who will provide that for her. As for Xander, she'll pretend nothing ever happened between them for his sake. If she ever tells her brother what happened, Xander would be murdered by his teammate and she would not want to break their friendship and the team dynamic apart.

In the end, things didn't work out between Xander Jan Bogaerts and Raquella Maria Devers. But that's okay because it took heartbreak for Raquella to realize that she's one hell of a woman and she has grown to love herself for who she is. She doesn't need a man to validate herself or her feelings for her.
