They sleeping, they sleeping. They sleeping, they sleeping on me. But I don't waste my time. Tryna prove that I'm something to see. Oh I, the real ones they know. And the ones that do not I don't need. 'Cause most see the vision and I give reasons to believe. That I'm honest, I'm honest, I'm telling no lies. When I say I'm up next, I'm not just for the ride. Never a point when I questioned my mind. Know what I'm doing, I planned for this time. Come up regardless, I'm coming regardless. I'm hungry, I'm starving, remaining a topic. Never an option, got your undivided whenever I'm plotting
Milani Torres is one of the hottest underground singers in R&B right now. Her first full-length mixtape had been making waves on Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Youtube. She feels like her success is taking her places she's never been before.
5 years ago, she was posting music on Soundcloud from her computer and was recording it with a cheap ass microphone on beats that her homeboys were making for her for free. Now she's making waves and big name people are hitting her up on social media talking about how she's the future of R&B and how she's saving R&B in 2017.
One of those big name people who slid into her DMs was none other than Marcus Stroman, Toronto Blue Jays ace and part-time rapper. He told her he was a big fan of her music and would love to make some dope ass music with her. If only she knew that this would turn into so much more.
Don't take it personal, personal, personal. Don't take it personal, personal, personal. I know it hurts to know, hurts to know, hurts to know. I don't want it (na, na, na). Don't need it (yeah, yeah, yeah). Don't take it personal, personal, personal. Don't take it personal, personal, personal. I know it hurts to know, hurts to know, hurts to know. I don't want it (na, na, na). Don't need it (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Fastforward almost 2 years later and she's about to release her new album. In this album, she's 100% honest and she's taking shots at everyone who did her dirty. Even though they shouldn't take everything she said so personally, she's not afraid to speak her mind and to stand up for herself now. The person who did her the most dirty though has to be Marcus.
They dated for a year when she was a dumb, naive 20 year old who believed anything that a man with charm would say to her. Unfortunately he broke her heart and the sad thing is that he didn't know that Marcus was her first love and first everything.
I know that you hear this. And you gon' just know that I'm speaking to you. Shouldn't have got so ahead of yourself. Now you're losing your cool. I know that you know that I'm right. You admitted that I am the truth. But look at you now, look at your face. Looking sad in the booth. Signed off a tape, toured off a tape. Did it alone and I ain't touched a plate. You was my nigga we could've been great. You so far gone, got you thinking you're safe. All said and done, you lost my respect. All said and done, you're the one I regret. Now you gon' watch from the crowd. Looking up like the rest
Marcus was absolutely furious when he saw the album drop and saw a song entitled "Niggas". He knew right away the song was about him, even though it didn't mention his name.
He felt himself become sick as she aired out his dirty laundry in the song. He knew that she was right with every word she sang. She knew that she made a deep blow with the song but it's what she needed to do to get over him. She needed to tell her side of the story since he told his side of his story in a song he entitled "Milani's Interlude"
Milani felt like everything she accomplished in the music industry was because if herself, it wasn't because of Marcus and his connections. It was him who fucked up and it's a shame because she felt something real with him. But now she has no respect for him and she regrets the day she feel for his charm. However, she's gonna keep proving to him that she doesn't need him to be successful.
Don't take it personal, personal, personal. (Look). Don't take it personal, personal, personal. (I need you to promise me one thing). I know it hurts to know, hurts to know, hurts to know. (That you not gon' take it like that). I don't want it (na, na, na). Don't need it (yeah, yeah, yeah). Don't take it personal, personal, personal. (Promise me that you won't take it). Don't take it personal, personal, personal. (Swear to me that you won't take it). I know it hurts to know, hurts to know, hurts to know. I don't want it (na, na, na). Don't need it (yeah, yeah, yeah)
She doesn't want him to take anything that she said about him to heart because when she wrote it, she was in a place of anger and hurt. She just wants him to understand that what he did was unforgiveable and it's something people don't do to people they claim they love. Milani witnessed her own mother go through tbe same thing and she didn't want to go through it herself.
He hurt her more than she ever thought anyone could and she's dealt with a lot of pain in her life, but what he did to her had to be by far, the worst pain she ever felt. He took her heart out and shattered it into pieces, leaving her so broken and damaged she didn't know how to pick up the pieces for months.
Now I could never judge anyone I loved. Even if you lose sight of all the things I've done. I'm not who I once was, these days I'm all grown up. I fuck with me heavy, I'm all chose up. And I only did right by you. When you fucked her, I stood right by you. Praying for the girls that believe your news. Praying for myself 'cause I be all truth. I got good heart, good soul, good sex. No stress, next to me is best. Don't you run your mouth 'cause in this song I say it best
She doesn't hate Marcus. Although she lost respect for him, a part of her will always love him. He was her first everything afterall. He was the one who stole her heart when she was just 20 years old. She was always there for him no matter what and that's what hurts the most. She was ride or die for him and unfortunately, he wasn't the same for her.
A year since their split and she has grown up. She's not the same 20 year old girl she was before. Now she's 22 and she has matured so much in 2 years. She has learned to love herself and her flaws because they're what makes her unique.
She stood by his side even through the infidelity. The sad thing was not Marcus Stroman couldn't keep it in his pants to save his life. Everytime he was on the road with the team or away from home, he would sleep with as many women as possible and it only took Milani to catch him in his web of lies.
Eventually she had enough because she kept giving him chances and he kept fucking then up. Now she feels sorry for whatever women who fall into the same trap she did. She also feels sorry for herself for ever believing in the lies he spat.
She knows that she has a great heart, a great soul, and is a great lover. Now she has zero stress in her life and it's the best thing that could have happened to her. She just hopes that Marcus won't try and discredit her to try and save his reputation.
At the end of the day, the best thing that happened to Milani Torres was freeing herself from Marcus Stroman
