My Guardian Angel Chapter Two

I quickly snapped back to reality when I heard the sound of the door opening. I looked toward the door and saw Officer Sanders walk in and close the door behind him. He looked suspiciously at us and had a look of anger in his eyes. It was strange considering the last time we saw him his eyes were filled with concern.

"Is this a sort of sick joke?" he asked his voice filled with disgust.

"What are you talking about?" Max replied.

"We sent a few officers to your house, and they reported that there was nothing there. This type of stuff is serious! You don't joke around about a murder! Is this type of thing funny to you two?!"

"Would you really think we would joke about something like this?! Our mom is dead! We saw her get killed with our own eyes!" I yelled.

"You two should just leave. Get out of here! There's no time for your silly games. So just go back home," he ordered with that he turned around and walked toward the door. But before he could get there Max was in front of the door blocking the way.

"Why won't you help us! Our mom's dead because of that maniac and you refuse to help us! He tried to kill McKayla and me! How can you expect us to just leave!" he demanded.

"Listen to me kid! There is no blood! There is no sign of a struggle! There are no dead bodies! Which means that there was never a murder!" he exclaimed.

"What do you mean there's no bodies?" I whispered. Phil couldn't have possibly gotten rid of all the evidence in less then an hour. For one he had a broken arm and for another fact he was bleeding from a wound in his chest.

"I already explained this to you kids, there is nothing!" and with that he pushed Max out of the way and stormed out of the room. I sat in shock, this couldn't be possible! If Phil wasn't at our house, where the hell was he? My heart was hammering and the adrenaline was already pumping, we though it was over and that the police would fix things. But they just though we were some rotten kids who wanted attention. So that means Phil is still out there somewhere. Lurking in the shadows. In my heart I knew that Phil was never going to stop until he killed us.

"Come on, we'll wait outside for Aunt Dee to get here," Max murmured. He helped me up from the chaise, put his hand on the small of my back and led me out of the police station.

Once outside I said, freaked out, "Oh my god, Max they're not going to help us cause they don't believe us. Max what are we going to do about Phil!"

He hugged me and I buried my head into his chest, "Shush, Mickey it's going to be okay I swear. I'll die before I let Phil get anywhere near you," he whispered into my hair. I was shaking uncontrollably, for the first time in my life I was truly afraid for my life. I was afraid I'd die at the hands of Phil. And I hated that he could cause me to be so afraid, I hated him for killing our mom, and I hated him for crushing our family when it was already broken.

We were in that position until Aunt Dee finally got here. She ushered us into her car and we headed to her house. Thankfully she didn't ask any questions. She seemed to have understood that we weren't ready to talk yet. I leaned against the window and watched everything blur by as we drove past. What happened today finally took its tole on me and my eyes began to droop with sleepiness.

Before I could sleep though all I could think about was the guy with the gorgeous green eyes. How did he come to my rescue at the exact time I needed him? As I pondered that question I began to forget what I was thinking about. It seemed like the harder I tried to think of that guy the farther the memories of him were from my grasp. I soon tried to fall asleep not willing to put up the effort to continue staying awake. By the time I was asleep I could barely remember green eyes.
