"Look.. Ellie, I invited you here for a reason."
We were sitting at our usual table at 'Penny Penne's Corner Coffee'. This was where we'd come anytime we wanted to talk with at least some privacy.
"I know Toni, we always come here for a reason. Is it something to do with Caspar's murder? You know you can tell me anything - I'm always here for you."
"See, that's the thing Ellie. I'm not sure I can tell you everything. Well, no, I know I can, but I need you to listen to what I'm going to say, and try not to freak out."
Another thing about Toni that you ought to know, she loves to exaggerate.
"Ellie, I think I like you. I mean, love. Actually, I'm not quite sure. All I know is I want to be with you - romantically."
But this time, it was not the case.
