Chap 4

Let's continue the story shall we?

The day after continued like it usual did. School as the list's first priority. Miwa should also be back by now but not attending school cause they flew all the way from wherever they were. Kai had not paid attention to small details as such. He could just skip school entirely and go to Miwa's place but knows his teacher will send a mail to his parents for his absence and then he would hear about it for the rest of they day.

One thing however, was disturbing his mind. And he will not stop searching for the truth. If the facts he found in that black box appear to be true, how come he doesn't remember any of it?

School didn't come as easy as he thought. He was still tired from staying up so late reading all those old articles he found. Then it was also the constant feeling of something.. disturbing, watching his back.

When the lesson ended and he was the last to walk out of the room, something bumped into him hard and he stumbled forward but didn't fall. He glanced to glare at whatever bumped into, assuming someone was still in the room after all but found none. He was all alone. Even the teacher had left.

''What's going on?'' he said and headed to the door but it suddenly flung closed. Kai sprinted to the door and tried to open it but found it was locked. His heart began to beat faster and he started banging on the door.

''Hey open up the door! Can anybody hear me!?'' he shouted but his voice didn't come out. Only a whisper came out. And then his body freeze, as if he had turned to ice and his body grew cold. He stared horrified at the door as he suddenly heard a laugh in the room. He couldn't move at all. He shivered as he felt a presence behind him and then someone or something breathing beside his ear.

''Give me... YOUR SOUL!''

He felt something stabbing his back and then his mind and breathing was cut off. He registered hearing something hitting a drum or something and every time he heard it, it felt as if his energy disappeared and he grew tired. Almost as if his energy was taken from him. Maybe this is what it meant by take one's soul?

Then.. it all disappeared. As if nothing happened. He fell to the floor, coughed and hyperventilated after breath, his bag falling to the floor beside him. Kai leaned against the wall as he tried to calm himself. He didn't notice the presence in front of him until it bent down and met his eyes. Unlike before this being was calm and he could clearly see it's, no - his eye color. It was green. Like his own.

''Y-you.. I saw you in my d-dream.. W-who are you?'' Kai tried to say as he stared at the person in front of him.''

''Go to sleep. I promise to be here with you.'' He said and waved his hand in front of the teen's face and just like that, as if hypnotized he feel asleep.

[Dream - memory 1]

Sirens was heard throughout the city and didn't end. A grey cloud covered the sky as if trying to swallow the world itself, cutting of all light in the process.

A big fire spread and burned down everything in it's path. Ten men at least were trying to put it out using water while a woman and a man, probably husband and wife, stood by the sidelines and the woman was shouting for someone.

A child laid on a floor, watching the person in front of him slowly losing consciousness as he held the other's hand. The person spoke but he couldn't hear it. It was to warm, he couldn't see through the thick smoke and he couldn't breath. One thing he did hear however was the following words ''let's always stay together..No matter what happens..''

Someone grabbed him and pulled him away from the other one and he was brought out to the light. He heard someone shouting his name but didn't know who. He glanced to the burning house and saw as one of the firemen came out empty handed and then the house fell apart making the one holding him scream much louder. A single tear fell down from his own eyes as he then fell unconscious.

Kai  opened his eyes and looked around in his environment. Ha was... in his room? Kai sat up as he felt a headache coming.

''What happened? How did I get here?'' He looked at the clock and it read 7.39 pm. He stood up from his bed and walked downstairs. His mother was in the kitchen preparing dinner and his father was in his office. As usual.

''Hi mom.'' He greeted and the woman turned around and faced her son with a bright smile.

''Hi Toshiki, did you have a good nap?''

Huh? ''U-uh um y-yeah.. yeah I had.''

''Good you looked so tired when you came home. I'm glad you feel better now.''

Seriously, what happened? ''I'm gonna watch some TV.''

''Sure. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes.''

Kai walked to the TV room and sat down on the couch as he tried to piece together what had happened. That's when the memory from before resurfaced in his head. Something must have happened when he fell asleep.

"Toshiki, Honey! Dinner is ready!"

It was at lunch when Kai had the courage to ask of the facts he found earlier.

"Hey mom, dad.. Is it true our first house was burnt to the ground?"

The air between the three suddenly became very strained as husband and wife stared at each others almost... a little horrified.

"Where did you hear about that?" His mother asked.

"I.. I read about it.. on the internet."

His mother suddenly stood up and grabbed his shoulders. "Have something strange happened as of late?! Have you had any headaches?!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Just answer the questions!"

"No! Nothing has happened and I haven't had any headaches lately, why do you ask?"

The woman stared at her son as she slowly let go of his shoulders and sat back down but she didn't say anything. Dinner was then almost awkward until Kai decided to go to his room. His parents stared at him as he walked away and his mother sighed as she heard his door close.

"Do you think.."

"Let's not go ahead of ourselfes until we know for sure. It's not something to freak out about." Kai's father said.

"I really hope you are right..."
