The Tape

Chap 3

Sorry to say but updates will take longer for me to do now. School started last week so I have a hard time to write. But I'll update as soon as I am able to!
Now on to chapter 3!

A surrounding darkness was all that could be seen as far as the eye could see. A lone figure was walking around aimlessly, searching for an exit that doesn't exist.

"Hello?! Is anyone here?!" He yelled through the empty space. No answer was given to him. He walked a little more, unsure if he even was walking in the right direction or around in a circle. But what was the right direction?

Just like that, as if someone or something heard his unasked prayer, a light appeared before him. As he walked closer he could make out a form forming from the light. When he got closer the form in front of him turned around and showed itself as a human. If it even was a human being.

"Try to remember.." It said as the two made eye contact.

"Who are you?" The teen asked. The person smiled gently which brought a sence of comfort to the boy as they stared at each other.

"My name has been forgotten in time. Only you have the key to unlock it."

"What are you talking about? Have we met before?"

The person stretched out his hand. On inpulse the teen stretched out his own hand and held the other. A light suddenly enveloped their hands and when the light disappeared, so had the person.

"If you are to know the truth you need to awaken Toshiki.."

"Wait, what do you mean by 'awaken'? And how do you know my name?"

"Until our next destined meeting.."

"WAIT!"

"WAIT!" Kai found himself yelling and he hastily sat up on whatever furniture he was on. It took him a moment to realize he was in his room. That mean it was all a dream. But then why was that person so familiar to him? Was familiarity the reason why he stretched out his hand?

Kai sighed and ran his hand through his hair. So many strange and horrified things have happened lately. It all almost seems unreal but in a way it feels like déjà vu. Like all these things has happened before.

He laid back down on his bed and stared up at the ceiling. Who was that guy? Why was that guy so familiar? So many question but so little answers.

The door opened and Kai's mother pocked in her head.

"Are you alright Toshiki? I heard you scream."

"Yeah I'm fine. Just a nightmare. Sorry to have disturbed you."

"Don't worry about it. You know I can't sleep well at night."

"Yeah I know. Good night mom."

"Good night." She said and closed the door.

Kai's mom has a sleeping disorder which she got about ten years ago. It makes her paranoid at night and she can't sleep. No matter how hard she tries. You could call it as a form of insomnia.

Kai laid back down on the bed on his stomach and brought his hands under his pillow to feel the cold against his skin, but he felt something else hitting his hand. It felt like.. paper? Kai sat back up, turned on the lamp beside his bed and removed the pillow. Indeed he saw a piece of paper. It seemed to have something written on it. He picked it up and read,

In the attic lies a black box with a golden heart-shaped lock hidden in the far corner.
If you want answers I suggest you seek it out.

This is just plain creepy. First he had the dream and now this. What's next?

As if proving him right the light bulb in his lamp broke and the light vanished and he could hear a creepy laughter followed by a shadow which appeared in the moonlight from his window. The sudden movement in his room made his heart beat faster and he flew up from bed and ran out. He closed the door and leaned his back against it. When nothing happened he sighed out in relief.

"What are you doing?"

Kai looked up at his mother who stood in the stairs.

"I'm.. gonna grabb a glass of water." Kai said and hurried to the bathroom. He heard his mother continue up the stairs and into her bedroom. Kai looked at the paper in his hand and read it once more.

"In the attic huh. I wonder what it mean with 'if you want answers'? Does it have to do with what's happening now?" Kai thought as he stared at the paper.

With no answers and nothing else to do cause he didn't want to go back to his room at this point he decided to go to the attic. The stairs to the attic is only reachable with a long metalic stick which is hidden behind a big plant. He grabbed the stick and opened the lock which brought down the stairs. He quietly walked up the stairs and the the stairs went up to a lock once again. Kai searched in the attic but couldn't find the box.

"Maybe my mind is playing tricks with me.." He said and read the paper for the third time.

In the attic lies a black box with a golden heart-shaped lock hidden in the far corner.

That was the one place he hadn't searched yet. So he walked as smoothly as he could around, over and under all the old furniture from the previous owners, boxes and more to not accidently push down something and wake up his parents.

When he got to the corner he found the black box which was hidden behind a big painting. He brought it out and stared at the box for a long time before he opened it. But what he found made him confused and a little scared.

"What.. What is all this..?"
