Recap of end of part twenty-three:
"What are you trying to say?"
"All I'm saying is Kai wants Luke is gone but he isn't going to do it himself he'll get us to do it because we're supposed to 'follow' his orders as he's in charge. Why are we always following Kai's orders? Why are we trying to end Luke anyway he's never done anything to us?" Dan added looking at the other vampires that were listening to him speaking and slowly starting to nod their heads in agreement.
"Maybe, we shouldn't try to end Luke and end Kai instead"
"End Kai and we wouldn't have to follow his orders anymore"
Part Twenty Four:
Betrayal is never easy to handle and there is no right way to accept it.
-Christine Feehan.
Kai ran across the sands running rapidly as if he was running in a race, which of course if he was in a race, there was no doubt he would win especially with his vampire speed.
Kai ran across the island ignoring the fact he could see Luke's friends and Josh standing by the edge of the water looking at the horizon. If Kai wanted to he could've attacked them but he knew he didn't stand a chance - the odds were stacked against him. He wasn't that stupid and besides Kai didn't really care if Luke's friends were alive or not, all Kai cared about was Luke being killed.
Kai continued to run taking his time before he decided to go back to where he stayed with the other vampires and the BVs. He still hasn't made any progress on how to take Luke out yet which made him annoyed and he was starting to lose his cool with the vampires he controlled.
Kai just wanted to kill Luke so he could be with yn, if Luke was dead then maybe just maybe his friends would look up to him as a leader too. That's all Kai wanted was people to follow his orders and demands without questions or hesitations. Kai didn't think he was a bad leader at all, he thought he was rather a good leader compared to the previous leader of the island of IOD.
Kai may be a leader to the others but that doesn't mean he's actually respected by them. The others didn't really think much of their leader but yet still followed his orders and demands because they didn't want to end up dead and eaten by the BVs. They knew Kai had a bad temper but he was nowhere near as bad as the previous leader, who was killed only a week before the four boys ended up on the island.
That leader was killed by Kai, many vampires wanted that leader dead; Rafael was a horrible leader that not only killed humans that came across the island but killed his own species, not caring about his actions.
He killed many vampires on the island until there was only Kai, Dan, Drake, Connor and Trey and himself left, it gave the other vampires a big decision to make about whether or not they were safe to stay on the island when Rafael was so ruthless and could try to kill them the second their backs were turned. They had to decide between staying on the island with Rafael when there was a possibility he might try to kill them all or to do something about Rafael.
Of course, the decision made was for Rafael to be killed so they all could live without fear of being killed, that's what happened, a plan was made and Rafael was killed and the BVs took care of the dead vampire's body.
