The real truth was something hidden away within the closed doors of their shared home.
Yes, they were once more than just friends. It was love, and anyone who saw it could say so. It went on perfectly for a while, then it got specifically rough when 2012 came along.
Before then, they both kept the relationship hidden to their subscribers slightly, but in 2012, there was a substantial rise in their subscribers, and Dan became distant. He was defensive when anyone even hinted at him being anything but the 'normal' of heterosexuality.
Between their first meeting in 2009 and the year of 2012, the two men grew extremely close, so Phil found it odd that Dan so suddenly closed himself off. Within the year, they began to fight often, and consequently, it seemed as if the two fell out of love, if that was even possible.
They both found a mutual disinterest in keeping the relationship, but despite that, they did. The reason for that being, they did not want to put their subscribers, who had only been loyal and appreciative to them, through the breaking up of the duo. It was a certainty that it would cause a massive scene leading many to pick sides or simply unsubscribe from both.
So, over the years, they continued to be the loving Dan and Phil on camera; However to each other, they were nearly mortal enemies.
