A long long time ago, when Greek gods and goddesses ruled the Earth, and everything in it. Everyone was happy and joyful until one day when Persephone vanished. Her mother Demeter was heart-broken.  On the day that Persephone vanished, she was picking flowers in a meadow with her friends while her mother went to a far-away land to grow crops for humans. The sky was blue, the sun was shining brightly, you could hear the animals going on adventures of their own, and the trees and flowers were dancing in the light breeze to the musical toon of birds singing their song.  Persephone wandered away from her friends listening to the wonderful music that was in the air, not knowing that The Lord of the Dead was watching her from down below The Lord  Hades fell in love with her beauty and asked his brother Zeus for her hand.

On that very same day Hades went up to the meadow where Persephone was picking flowers and he snatched her off the ground. Persephone did everything in her power to make Hades bring  her back home. Hades refused. He thought for a minute. He wouldn’t let something as beautiful as Persephone go back when it was the right time to take her away. Her mother’s out of town, her father let me have her as my bride, and nobody saw her get taken away. So why should I bring her back now? It would only cause trouble up there above the underworld. Once Demeter got back from her long trip she went out to find where her daughter was hiding. Demeter looked everywhere but where is Persephone? She couldn’t find her! Persephone couldn’t be far away. After all she doesn’t really go anywhere. Right???
