The human mind is truly the scariest thing of all.
It can lead to feelings of love, hatred, confusion, fear, anger, and insanity. Thoughts hang on a loose thread that circles the brain until a conclusion is made. Emotions are controlled, or uncontrolled, there.
The human mind has the power to make an individual do things. Smile. Laugh. Cry. Kiss. Love. Hate. Murder.
The brain is awake at all times. Even while a human rests, it is still functioning and processing information. When a person fall into a deeper sleep than expected, the brain jerks the individual awake in hopes to keep them alive.
It's smart, ignoring the nose in front of your face as you proceed through your day. It can alert you when someone's eyes are on you, using primal "gaze detection". Otherwise known as the sixth sense.
Inside of the human mind, however, is the most terrifying part of it all. The human imagination.
Your imagination can get bored. When that happens, it thinks of ways to send adrenaline through your veins. This can create noises and especially visions to cater to your brain's liking. For example, whispers you hear alone in a dark room or a demon-like figure in a mirror can literally be figments of your imagination.
Your brain lives for the rush. The adrenaline pumping, the heart pounding, the blood rushing. So, if your brain allowed itself to create images you didn't want inside of your mind, could it create feelings that you didn't want as well?
Well, that question is for another time...
As said before, a human mind is always calculating and processing. However, there is a brief moment when you first wake up, and you have no memories. A blissful blank state, a happy emptiness.
When Locus woke up every morning on a makeshift straw filled cot, he longed for that moment. That millisecond of nothingness. He clung to it, wishing the fleeting didn't come so soon. The memories always came rushing back, however.
He wished he felt that emptiness all day. That would be better than the bursting heartbreak aching inside of him. Locus used to be like that still moment. Numb and un-emotional. She broke that. Just like she broke everything else inside of him...
