India is known to be a diverse country,Home for almost all relegions.
It Consists of 29 states with every state containing it's own culture showing 'Unity in Diversity'.
But it so happens that Women are being discriminated in almost every part of the country. These days, the oldest literatures of our country such as the Vedas are being heavily criticized by so called social activists that these scripts are the cause for women discrimination and for the inferior treatment of women in our country. Even in our Education we study very ill about our past traditions and literatures.
So What really Vedas told about Women. Let's see!
1. Women must always be brave-- Yajurveda 10.03.
2. Women must reach great heights and must attain glory-- Adharvanaveda 14.1.20.
3. Women must become Scholars, that means Women must also get educated-- Atharvanaveda 11.5.18.
4. Women must enlighten Everyone-- Atharvanaveda 14.2.74.
5. A Woman should always be Happy and Prosperous.--Atharvanaveda 7.4.72.
6. Women must always be Knowledgeable and Clever.--Atharvanaveda 7.47.1.
7. Women should also take part in Ruling-- Atharvanaveda 7.38.4.
8. Activities like Social Reforms and Government Rulings should be led by Woman.--Rugveda 10.85.46.
Even today Women are being stopped from reaching great heights. But the Vedas clearly mentioned about Leadership qualities of a Woman.
9. A Daughter also has equal rights on her Father's Property.-- Rugveda 3.31.1.
10. Women should act as a Savior for Family and even Society.--Atharvanaveda 14.1.20.
11. Women has a right to Earn--Atharvanaveda 11.1.17.
12. A Woman must show her Husband how to Earn.-- Atharvanaveda 7.46.3.
13. A Woman can also Ride Chariots.--
Atharvanaveda 9.9.2.
14. Women must also take part in Wars.--Yajurveda 16.44.
( Goddess Durga herself is an inspiration in this point.)
False Theories are passed these days that the Vedas banished women from stepping out of houses and played a major role in their Ill Treatment. But Vedas clearly mentioned that Women can take part in Wars. The Story of Kaikeye is a clear Example. In the Ramayana, the valiance of Kaikeye in the war caught the attention of King Dashradh which ultimately led him to give Kaikeye Boons. These Boons were the turning point in the story.
15. Women must give Speeches and Orders just like a Commander.-- Rugveda 10.85.26.
16. In the Rugveda, it is said that, " Women! You were also given Mantras just like Men. Let Knowledge be passed by You without showing any Partiality. Let your Mind and Soul work in Harmony. I am not only giving Hymns equally with Men but also am providing Strength to understand them."-- Rugveda 10-191-3.
17. Women must get educated before getting Married.--Atharvanaveda 14-1-64
In the Vedas, there are many Instances which told about Women Sages. We Find Women deities only in Hindu Dharma and there are not much instances in other relegions where The God himself gave Divine Messages to Women.
So Respect Vedas. If you don't want to ,leave it but Criticizing them is not appreciable.
