In the Previous chapter we saw the first Ten among the 21 Important Avataras.
The Dashavataras we know starts with the Matsyavatara but this particular Incarnation is 10th on the list.
Then Why it is first in Dashavataras?
The Present period we are living is known as Vivasvata Manvantara. There are 14 Manvantaras. 1 Manvantara is approximately equal to 71 Chaturyugas. Vivasvata Manvantara started during the Incarnation of the Matsyavatara and the rest of the Avataras followed it. As Matsyavatara is the first one of our period, we consider it as the First Avatar.
