Dani and Barry walked down the street eating ice cream. Dani giggled as Barry went full science nerd mode.
"I'm again nerd talking."
Dani giggled.
"But it's okay."
Barry's phone ringed and he answered.
"Sure. I'll be there in a minute."
Barry looked at his sister.
"I have to go. An emergency."
Dani smiled. It was third time this week that he couldn't hang out with her.
"It's fine."
Barry kissed her forehead.
"I'll make it up to you. I promise."
Dani nodded. As soon as he got around the corner her smile slipped. She knew he was keeping something from her.
She sniffed, trying to hold tears in.
"What are you doing here alone?"
Dani looked up at Leonard with tears in her eyes. His smirk slipped. He put his hands on her cheeks.
"Elle? Is everything okay?"
Dani nodded and smiled through her tears.
"I'm fine."
Leonard snorted.
"You are not. Let's go to hot chocolate. My treat."
Dani nodded.
The two sat at Jitters drinking hot chocolate.
Dani sighed.
"This is the third time this week that my brother bailed on our plans. I know he is busy but I just want some time with him. Oh God, it sounds stupid. I'm sorry, Lenny."
Leonard shook his head.
"It's fine, Elle. And it's not stupid. I have a sister. I know how it is."
Dani looked at his blue eyes and smiled.
"Really? Thanks, Lenny."
Leonard smiled.
"Why don't I give you my number so you can call if you need to talk?"
Dani smiled and bit her lip.
"Sure."
They exchanged numbers and Leonard walked her home.
"Thanks for walking me home, Lenny."
Leonard nodded.
"No problem."
Dani looked up at him and smiled. She went on her toes and pressed a small kiss on his cold cheek.
"Thank you."
Leonard smiled.
"Anytime."
Dani waved and walked into house. Her cheeks warm as she smiled and giggled.
Joe walked into room and chuckled at her face.
"A boy?"
Dani giggled.
"Maybe. Goodnight, Joe."
Joe smiled as she kissed her cheek and went up to her room.
"Goodnight, Dani."
