Tris's POV
"Caleb?!" I shout. He runs over to me.
"Thank goodness I found you. This place is terrifying." He pulls me into a hug, and I'm startled.
"What are you doing here?"
Caleb looks around cautiously. "Is there someplace private we can talk?"
"Sure. Follow me." I tell him. "I'll see you guys later." I walk out the door with Caleb and Tobias in tow. I can tell Caleb doesn't like that Tobias is with us, but I know Tobias wouldn't let me walk out with someone I hadn't seen in a year alone. We reach our apartment, I unlock and open the door. "What are you doing here, Caleb?"
"Um... I've gotten a job close to Jeanine, I handle her appointments, and she met with Marcus Eaton yesterday. I overheard them talking about you." Caleb started to panic, and I knew something was wrong. "Marcus said something about kidnapping and that he needed some serum. I didn't know what to do, so I came here as soon as I had the chance to get away."
My jaw drops. Marcus is trying to kidnap me. I don't know when he'll get the chance, or if he'll ever be able to get past Tobias. I see Tobias tense and feel his arm wrap around my side. My heart begins to race. I'm beginning to become terrified. "Tobias..."
"Don't worry. I won't let him anywhere near you." he says.
"It's not me I'm worried about, Tobias." I try to make him understand, without letting Caleb know about the baby, by looking down and wrapping my arms around my middle. I know he gets the message, because he immediately tenses up and turns to Caleb.
"When is he going to..." Tobias asks. He can't finish his sentence, and I know why.
"Tomorrow morning. I recommend that she is not left alone. She might not be a part of my daily life anymore, but she's still my little sister." Caleb says. Tobias laughs, despite the serious moment.
"She's not your little anything. Especially not now." I elbow him in the ribs and glare at him.
"What are you...?" Caleb looks back and forth between the two of us.
I look up at Tobias. "Thanks a lot. We have to tell him now." I turn to face Caleb. "Caleb." I take a deep breath and squeeze Tobias' hand. "I'm pregnant." Caleb's jaw drops to the floor.
Tobias's POV
Marcus was planning on kidnapping Tris. My wife. My pregnant wife. No way was I letting this happen.
"She might not be a part of my daily life anymore, but she's still my little sister." I hear Caleb say. I laugh.
"She's not your little anything. Especially now." Especially now that she's pregnant. Tris elbows me and I nearly double over. Her elbows are quite powerful. Her glare penetrates deep into my soul. I guess I shouldn't have said what I did. I can tell that Caleb said something I blocked out.
"I'm pregnant." Caleb's jaw drops to the floor. I laugh.
"Caleb, we've been married for a year. Did you not think this was going to happen?" I ask.
"I knew it was eventually going to happen, but I didn't expect it to happen right before I get married!" Caleb yells.
"Wait, what? You're getting married???" Tris screams. "To who? When?"
"One of the girls who was in my initiate class. A couple weeks. I was going to invite you, but Jeanine told me 'Faction before blood.' I couldn't go against the leader of my faction." Caleb says. I know Tris doesn't believe in that motto, but I understand what Caleb was afraid of.
"Of course. Well, it's not like we tell you everything either. Obviously." Tris says.
--------------TIME WARP--------------
Tris's POV
The next morning, Tobias wouldn't leave me alone. Marcus entered the Dauntless facility without trouble. Apparently, there was some meeting he had with Max. There wasn't any trouble. When Tobias had to go to work in the control room, he left me with Zeke and Uriah. Of course. He got back to the apartment and told me that Marcus was going around to all the factions talking to the leaders about ways to minimize kidnappings and other dangers. Tobias was relieved to find that there was no trouble. I was grateful as well.
"So, what's for dinner? I'm famished."
"I thought I might just grab some cake." Tobias told me.
"Please. I have been craving cake all day, and Uriah and Zeke wouldn't let me have anything other than hamburgers." I laugh, and soon Tobias and I are on the floor laughing. "I love you."
"I love you, too." He gives me a kiss, and I end up falling asleep before I can eat anything.
--------------TIME WARP--------------
Tris's POV
I look in the mirror at my constantly growing stomach. I'm now eight months pregnant and feel as though I can't do anything anymore. Tobias barely lets me out of the apartment and won't let me anywhere near the chasm without someone within arms reach.
"What are we going to name them?" Tobias asks, wrapping his arms around me.
"I'm not sure yet. I can't believe it. Twins."
"Well, we've only got a few more weeks before they're here. We better think of something soon."
A/N: And with that, here's something. I'm having a contest. Baby names. Both boys and girls, though I'm not sure what the gender(s) of the twins will be. Contest will close by the next time I update, so in about 3-4 days from now (Friday 4/18). The winner(s) will have a chapter dedicated to them or a shout-out and a part in the story. Thanks, guys!
