It was late Friday night and the Rallison twins were up past their bed time. The boys sat on their bed with their two rats, a large yellow one named Browser and a small mahogany spotted one named Toad. They remembered having to fight tooth and nail with their mom about keeping the rodents after their dad went behind her back and got them as a gift for their 8th birthday.

Even though their mother still despised the innocent and adorably fluffy creatures, the boys were allowed to keep them. The two looked at the pair dance on the small space in between their legs and tried to distract themselves with their favorite pets. Drew giggled sweetly as he felt the damp nose of Bowser brush against his exposed ankle. The little boy scooped him up in his hands and held him close, hugging the rat as he continued to squirm but not so much that he'd uncomfortable to hold.

Carson smiled at his brother as he simply kicked a red and yellow plastic ball with his finger, making a small chime due to it containing a bell. Toad rushed after it before nudging it back to his owner. The dirty blond frowned however as he looked back at the Star Wars clock hanging over his bed.

11:48 PM.

"You think that mom's coming before dad?"

"Probably not."

"Where do you think she goes."

"I dunno, she never says."

"I think she's a secret agent. Like Jane Bond."

"No she's not."

"Come on Carson!

*Carson and Drew are Waiting like they usually do for James to come home and read them a bed time story. James does come home, in a sadly all too familiar way for the boys. A nasty habit of over exertion. Filling up his schedule to the brim when he didn't want to face his wife. He gets a call from Dan Hathaway, his manager, who is a complete dick. He's a 68 year old manager that has worked for some of the best people Hollywood has ever known, always pushes the fact that he has other clients other than 'Rallison' to take care of. This gives James the constant impression of inevitable doom as if he ever stepped out of line all Dan had to do was delete a couple files and phone numbers and James Rallison would never get another manager again. Reason being is because Dan has a big mouth and a big influence. Ever person who walks out on him, whether legitimate or not, can never find another reasonable manager in all of the United States. He would even go as far as persuade directors and companies into not "investing in you" like he did. He couldn't risk his livelihood collapsing, not like this.

The boys try to help their dad get with Jaiden and end up getting them to kiss on accident, however the repercussions are too hard for them to handle. They are awkward and cute the entire night and decide to go out and play trivia every Sunday together for 4 weeks or so. Veronica makes friends and tries to babysit with twins.

"Do you ever feel like to know you more is to love you less?"

"Dad, what's a soulmate?"

"Not now boys."

"Quassimoto said something about that, remember?" (Check that).

"Oh right...well a soulmate is like a best friend but more-"

"More what?"

"More special, irreplaceable and vital; they are forever connected to you. They know you better than anyone else."

"They don't complete you but they help you complete a better being with them. They make you a better person...Actually they don't do that you do that yourself."

"Because they inspire you and can let you carry them with you forever."

"It's the one person...that knew you and believed in you before anybody else did or when know one else would."

"No matter what happens they will always love you. Nothing can ever change that."

"So it's like a love thing? Like a in love thing?"

"I suppose, that's how it usually is portrayed."

"So...is mom your soulmate?"

"Your mother,"

"Look Carson, if this is about being afraid of us divorcing. We won't okay?"

"But you guys don't do the things you said. She never supports you, not like you used to."

"You don't know what you are talking about Carson-"

"Dad you can't deny it, you just proved to me that you recognized love-"

"I told you what a soulmate is. Love is different. I still love your mom. Not in the same way I love you or anyone else but I do."

"Maybe but has she made you a better person? What about you dad?"

"Son, people have falling outs even soulmates. But again, they will never leave each other."

"Get some rest son, you have school tomorrow."

"I wished you wouldn't lie dad. I don't-"

"You were so happy today dad with-"

"That's enough Carson. Whatever you were going to imply is not any of your business and it is not right. As much as I hate to break it to you bud, we don't live in a Disney movie. I choose your mother out of my own free will, I wasn't forced by any means and I will stand by it-"

"Because you have to-"

"If you interrupt me again I will-"

"Just go to bed Carson."

"But dad I-"

"Please Carson-!"

"Just go to bed, please."

"Okay dad."
