I changed some of the reasons why YouTube and other online platforms died in chapter 1 around Net Neutrality because I thought it fit better! I explained why there! You don't have to read the why just know that that's an additional and main reason why the old internet died and that a new internet medium exists with high cost internet providers taking control of the New Internet*

The quick steps of a noirette girl boomed through the empty streets as she attempted to outrun an older man in his late fourties.

Veronica normally wouldn't have felt her lungs begin to sting this early into a run, for Christ's sake it usually took a couple miles for that to happen, but trying to escape your aggressor is a lot harder when you had the entire weight of your best friend on your back.

The seventeen year old couldn't take the risk of slowing down at all since she was left abandoned by her friends  as they the insane Horton's manager tried to take a swing at one of them. The poor teen didn't even know if the man was even chasing her but if he was she sure as hell wasn't going to turn around to find out.

"Jesus Christ Sam! Why didn't you listen to me when I told you to look out?! I can't even take you to the hospital or else my dad will fucking kill me!" Veronica scolded the best she could since her long bangs began to block her vision. The smaller blue haired female only groaned, continuing to squeeze her leg as she tried to keep up with her fellow teammate. It didn't seem like the scrawny eighteen year old actually broke or sprained it but it was painful enough to make every step feel like she was walking on nails.

Veronica turned a corner to a smaller alleyway in order to get off the main road. She felt her shoulders give out at just the right time as she slammed herself and her friend against the brick wall of some kind of thrift store. She heard her friend curse at her under her breathe but quickly covered her mouth as the labored breathes of the hefty man came from the other side of the garbage heap they hid behind. Once the massive footsteps were only slightly quieter than the leaky gutter that had been dropping rain water on the tin can of a nearby trash bin, Veronica all at once let go of Sammie and dropped to her knees to vomit profusely. Her stomach irked as the adrenaline left her body and exhaustion rippled through her.

She spat the last of episode up which was mostly just the popcorn and soda they got from the movies. She wiped her mouth after the last drop of spit didn't fully reach the floor. The young girl coughed a few times for good measure before she realized a pair of beaten up worker boots were tapping on the gravel in front of her. Her breath hitched as she scrambled against the wall in fear that it might of been the store keeper but thankfully she was only met with an all too familiar red-headed Canadian.

"Oh thank God," she practically gargled before struggling to get up on her own. The taller male reached down and helped her up as he awkwardly guided her around her own vomit.

"Eric! Are you okay? What happened to Abe?" She spoke so fast that the poor boy had to hold onto her shoulders to keep her steady. He grinned warmly, letting his dimples show as he some how managed to still have his head.

"He's fine, I am fine, we're all fine Ronny. I told him to go back for the truck, he should be here in a few. What about you and Sammie?" His focus shifting as he gestured carelessly to the other girl.

"Ahh, she's good. You know Sammie always getting in over her head." She let out a tired chuckle, still feeling the aftermath of her purge on the back of her tongue.
