Dipper licked his finger as he flipped the page of his journal, ignoring Mabel's constant gasps at plants she found interesting. Just then, Dipper stopped in his tracks and looked around. To his horror, he found that the environment had seemed to change. The type of tree was different than the norm for Gravity Falls, and Dipper didn't recognize anything from what he saw. Mabel continued examining strange flora.

"Shush, Mabel- look. Do you see anything different about these woods? I-It's not the same type of tree-- did we wander too far!?" Dipper asked, panicking. Mabel raised her eyebrow.

"Dipper, we've only been walking for like five minutes, calm down!" She said, walking past him and pulling down his hat. Dipper frowned.

"Yeah, but, look at the wa-" Dipper began, but Mabel shushed him.

      "What?" Dipper asked, irritated.

      "Listen." She said.

Dipper sighed, but did as she suggested. And sure enough, he heard something. A voice. A young voice. He couldn't make it out, but the source must've gotten closer as after a few moments, he could hear clearly what the voice was saying. It was singing. "Oh, we're going to the pasture to meet Adelaide and ask her if she has a way to send us back where we came from! I don't know who she is or how she is or when or why she is but as for where she is where we will go! To Adelaide, Adelaide, come on and join the Adelaide parade! Adelaide, to Adelaide, we're going to Adelaide's house today!" The voice said. It could be heard, but was still a distance away.

      "Catchy!" Said Mabel.

"Yeah, I guess it is kind of ca- wait, who's singing it though?" Dipper asked, and peeked out from behind a tree to see clearly. And they saw two figures walking through the forest. Dipper began slowly sneaking towards them, with Mabel following. When suddenly, Dipper tripped. Mabel giggled.

"Who was that? What was that?" Asked an alarmed female voice.

"Uhm- hello? Is someone over there?" Asked a male voice, one that was different from the one that was singing. Which was strange, because they only saw two silhouettes, yet there were three voices. Dipper must've missed one, right...? Dipper got up, and backed up a bit. When he looked up, there was a figure standing above them, as well as a smaller one next to said figure. And a bird perched on the smaller one's... Helmet? And then, Dipper and Mabel got a good look at the taller one. "Oh. Hey. It's another person. You two look relatively normal. Um, can you two by any chance steer us in the directi-" Began the tall boy, but was interrupted.

"Gnome!" Exclaimed Mabel, hitting the tall one with a stick multiple times. Dipper stood and narrowed his eyes. He did not help nor stop Mabel, unsure whether the boy was a very tall Gnome or just a boy.

"Ow! Stop! Wha- I'm not a gnome!" He said.

A giggle. "Wow. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he looked like a gnome in that thing." Said a female voice.

"Hey, Beatr- agh, will you quit it!?" Said the tall boy, pushing Mabel back. He dusted himself off. "My name is Wirt! I'm not a gnome! I'm just a normal boy, okay? Me and my brother, Greg-"

The small boy Wirt had gestured to, Greg, interrupted and said, "Hello."

Wirt nodded, then continued, "Are looking for Adelaide of the Pasture, Good Woman of the Woods. Could you, by any chance, point us in her direction?" Wirt asked.

But Dipper was too distracted by a separate question in his head. "Wait... There's three voices, but two people. Who was that one girl talking?" Asked Dipper.

"That was me, silly!" Mabel said, lightly whacking him with her hoodie sleeve. She giggled. "Bonk!"

"No, not you, Mabel. Someone else."

"Well, that would be Beatrice." Said Wirt, gesturing to the bird.

"What? But, wait, how? Birds' minds aren't large enough for---"

Beatrice interrupted. "Don't give me that smarty 'cognizant speech' shtick again, alright? I'm a bird that used to be human, that's why I can speak. Happy?" Asked Beatrice.

"Interesting..." Dipper said, noting something down in his journal.

"So you don't know the way to the pasture?" Asked Wirt.

"No. There are no pastures anywhere near here, I don't think." Dipper said, closing the journal, and looking at Wirt. "We're near Gravity Falls."

"What? We weren't THAT far away from Adelaide's. And I've never heard of any Gravity Falls in my life. I think you're even more lost than these two. We're in the Unknown, kids, not 'Gravity Falls'." Beatrice commented.

"Uh, okay, Ms. Bird-atrice, we're only five minutes away from the Mystery Shack. You're the lost ones!" Said Mabel. Dipper frowned and thought about how he noticed that the trees were different here.

"Alright, come on. Let's just go that way together. Maybe we'll find this 'mystery shack' or whatever it is, and the Gravity Falls place. If it's not there, we can just keep on travelling together, right? And if it is there, we'll go on our merry way." Suggested Wirt. But by the time his explanation was done, Mabel and Greg were spinning in circles, singing that song "Adelaide parade" that Greg had been singing before. Dipper sighed, and agreed.

"Alright. That's fine. Let's just get on our way. Hopefully we won't run into any actual gnomes." Said Dipper, and he, Wirt, Greg, Beatrice, and Mabel set out back in the direction that the Pines twins came from.
