Loyalty. A well balanced relationship is built around this characteristic. Any relationship, being romantic or platonic, needs this trait to remain healthy.

Unfortunately this was a trait neither Riley Matthews, nor Farkle Minkus has been expressing lately.

They both were happy and in love with their partners all through out Freshman Year, Lucas and Smackle respectively.

But old feelings started kicking in and one day they couldn't help themselves.

The story of when their affair began goes back towards the early days of Sophomore Year.

Farkle needed to explain to Riley that he still had feelings for her.

He climbed through her window and slammed his lips into her, blocking out any thoughts of his current girlfriend.

She kissed back as they pulled away and started cuddling.

And so forth the notorious affair began.

They hid their forbidden love from their friends for a while, still dating their partners.

You could call it cheating, they preferred exploring options.

All was somewhat well until today.

The 'Core Six' were sitting in their normal spots at Topanga's.

Riley and Maya in the Middle chairs, Farkle and Smackle on the love seat, and Zay and Lucas on the chairs right of Riley and Maya.

Farkle had his arm around Smackle, slightly flinching from the contact.

Although Farkle still loved Smackle deeply, his feelings were strictly platonic.

He only now felt romantic feelings for Riley.

Riley noticed his reaction and commented on it, unknowingly spilling their secret in the process.

"Farkle, babe are you okay?"

She cover her mouth immediately. Farkle, along with the rest of their friends gasped.

"Babe? Riley you never even call me that, what's going on here?"

Lucas said cutting the awkward silence short.

Riley remained silent. Fearful for herself and Farkle.

She looked at him with pleading eyes hoping he would say something.

"Dearest? Why aren't you saying anything? Riley's never called you that before. And I certainly haven't. I don't mean to be rude but you should correct her. The term 'babe' should only be used to refer to someone you are romantically involved with."

Smackle stated, making the entire situation even more awkward then before.

"Riley what's going on?"

Maya asked in confusion.

"I-I umm Farkle I-I"

She said. Those were the only words that she could make out considering she was scared out of her mind.

The silence continued, slowly eating into Riley's conscience and Farkle's brain.

After a long, guilt filled moment Farkle blurted out,

"Me and Riley have been secretly seeing each other!"

And he instantly regretted it.

Smackle's face dropped, Texas Lucas was making an appearance, Zay tensed, and Maya gasped. Riley ran towards Farkle and started bawling her eyes out as she started her apology.

"I'm so sorry guys! I just had really strong feelings for Farkle and I was afraid that you guys would be angry at me because of all the trouble it took to finally get me and Lucas together. Maya I'm sorry I lied to you, the guilt was eating me alive and I wanted to tell you so many times. Zay I'm so sorry. I know you said I could always talk to you and I didn't! Smackle I'm so sorry bubbles! You know I love you! Your one of my best friends. I didn't mean to hurt you I swear. And Lucas, I'm so sorry. I should have never gone behind your back and I'm extremely guilty. I love you, and you know that. But that once romantic love turned platonic and I'm so sorry. Words can't even express how sorry I am guys. I know you probably hate me bu-"

Maya cut her apology short.

"We could never hate you honey. I just don't understand how this came to be? Or when these feeling arose? I'm sorry I'm just confused."

Riley ran to Maya and hugged her so tightly it seemed she lost her circulation.

"Peaches! Thank Goodness your not mad at me."

She pulled away.

"Guys I know I messed up. I hope you can forgive us. I love you."

She said, Then grabbed the blue eyed boys hand, took one last look, then walked out.
