Chapter 5: The Meeting of Discoveries

Shizukana was shocked by all these sudden discoveries and realized that the world was a whole lot bigger than his village and the forest. He realized that if he was the only water elemental in the whole huge world that he lived in he would have to help. "I will help you in your quest to defeat the oni. What do I have to do?" he said. Akai laughed and said "Of course you will, you'd have to if you didn't want to die. Although I do thank you for going along willingly. We are going to have to train you, and I will have to do some research on your special spell, the master spell." Shizukana told Akai that he usually went with the flow, and Akai knew. "That's usually an attribute of water elementals. They are kind, and they tend to go with the flow. Based on your debate with the villagers, I'd say you are also good at not just going with the flow but keeping up and creating the flow," said Akai. Shizukana knew she was very observant and kind, so he had an easy time of going along with it.

Akai was pleased with him. She didn't have to force him to do anything, and she didn't have to be manipulative at all. He had good taste, she thought. She only had to tell him to focus on the feeling of blasting the water, and to let everything out. She could actually get some research done... but then she remembered the oni scouts. She raced outside, knocking several books and ancient scrolls down. By the time she made it outside, Shizukana had his bow and arrows out, and there was a dead oni scout on the ground, making the green grass red. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry i forgot to tell you! I came out to help you as soon as I remembered!" Akai apologized to the stunned boy. Shizukana told her it was quite alright, as he was a phenomenal hunter. However, he was having trouble transferring that feeling of exertion and release to his body. Akai realized something, and she set up a target a ways away from shizukana. Akai told him to try to focus that feeling into the tip of the arrow, and shoot the target. If the target became wet, they would know that he really was the water elemental. Akai wished him luck, then went indoors to straighten up and get some research done. She walked into the library and grabbed a stack of books about the guardian spirit, the elementals, and the awakening of magical powers. She grabbed the first one and started reading.
