"no, this color is too bright," you shouted from the dressing room. you sighed and ran your hands over your face. the premiere for chaos walking was just a couple of days away and you were still searching every rack in every store (from about three different malls). it's not that you didn't like anything, you were just so nervous that you couldn't find anything that you felt fit the occasion. you begged tom not to go with you, knowing how long you'd take. he invited you as if it were no big deal, and you accepted it as such - except, on the inside, your whole world flipped upside down. this would be your first premiere with tom as his partner. you had been to a couple of premieres with tom as a friend, but this was next level shit. you didn't feel like you were in the spotlight, but as more people asked about yours and tom's relationship, you felt like you were under the lens a lot more. so, this time you cared about what you were seen in.

"tom's gonna love you in anything," you heard harrison say. harrison was a mutual friend and the poor sap who got dragged to the mall with you. he didn't make a fuss about it, he'd been in the same situation before. "plus, you've picked out a few great choices. i say the next one you see, you get. pick your sizes and don't think about putting it on. the first time you wear it will be the day of the premiere." you nodded, to yourself mostly considering you were still in the dressing room. you changed quickly into your regular clothes and walked out. you glanced up and down the aisles, harrison following you. you passed a black and white schemed outfit and it was like the heavens above held a spotlight to it for you. "this one," you whispered "i want this one."

"love? are you ready?" tom fixed his tie. he didn't register how nervous you were, because he knew you'd been fine at the other premieres, so he didn't worry too much about how you felt. but when he walked into the bathroom where you were getting ready and saw your hands coming down to smooth out your clothes as you eyed yourself intently in the mirror - he knew something was off. "you alright, darling?" you looked at him through the mirror, your eyes wide but you nodded despite the eruption in your stomach. he walked behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist. "look at you," he mumbled into your neck, placing soft kisses along the way as his lips lifted to your ear to whisper, "absolutely perfect." he kissed the shell of your ear before turning you around to face him, gently lifting you by the waist and placing you on the counter. "how did i get so lucky?" he smiled at you after taking in a long look and then leaned in to kiss you, trapping you on top of the sink. you tried your best to ignore your nerves and enjoy the kiss but even tom could feel you were out of it.

"what's wrong?" he leaned his forehead against yours, his arms circling your waist. you were about to protest, but you realized it wouldn't do any good. "i'm scared - of the interviewers, the public eye, i guess." you could feel the heat in your cheeks as you thought of how ridiculous you sounded. "you've been to, like, three of these," there was confusion laced in his voice and prominent in his features, "what's different about this one?" you fiddled with his tie. "we're dating." he laughed at loud, pulling away from you. "so? we had dealt with dating rumors before we were an item. it's the same now, except they aren't rumors. i get all of the benefits." you shoved his shoulder playfully when he winked at you, laughing out loud yourself. "i guess... i just don't want to mess this up for you, or steal your spotlight with questions about our relationship." tom shook his head, bringing his lips back to yours. they barely touched, when tom started speaking, "i wouldn't blame them if they became distracted by you," a peck, "i find myself in the same dilemma in your presence."
