"She's being bullied?" Karou gasped into his cell phone, all air disappearing from his lungs.
"Yeah, for at least a couple of weeks now. She's been doing a good job hiding it," Haruhi explained from the other side of the call. "Listen, you can't tell her that I told you. You have to pretend that you don't know anything about this."
"Got it. Thanks, Haruhi. I owe you."
"Just don't screw things up with this girl. She's great, and you two deserve to be happy."
"Okay. I'll do my best."
He hung up and turned to the other members of the Host Club behind him. They had all agreed to stay after school today for a brief meeting about planning their next week's events. Hikaru looked as his brother worriedly. "Well?"
"She's trying to be strong in front of everyone else. It's been going on ever since her sister first came to visit us. I don't know how much longer she can put up with it. I'm really worried." Karou explained, his voice shaking a little. Jenna. . .
"Poor Jen-chan! Is there anything we can do?" Honey wailed, squeezing his bunny close to his chest.
Tamaki suddenly stood up from his chair, a determined look taking over his face. "Gentlemen, what is our job as members of the Host Club?"
"To make our guests happy." Karou and Hikaru answered in unison.
"Correct! So, from this day forward, we will act as the secret body guards of Miss Jenna Davidson at all times!"
Suddenly, most of the hosts were lined up like a group of soldiers called to attention before their commander. Kyoya barely looked up from his black book as he spoke. "I don't mean to intrude on your fantasy schemes, but are you sure that's a wise course of action? Miss Davidson has been trying to hide it from everyone, even Karou, whom she trusts. If it becomes too obvious that we're protecting her, it could make things worse."
"He's right. We need to be discreet." Karou pointed out.
"Alright. Then we'll adjust our strategy, but our objective remains the same. Jenna Davidson must never be left alone, at least not long enough to be bullied. All negative activities need to be discreetly avoided. Let's hope that she won't get suspicious."
"But if she does, let me know so that I can handle it."
"Probably the best idea. If she'll listen to any of us, it's either you or Haruhi." Hikaru added.
After discussing things for about half an hour, the meeting was closed and everyone went home. The Hitachiins prolonged their walk out of the school as Karou silently worried about the girl. "She'll be fine. Don't worry so much." His brother reassured him.
"I can't help it. I just don't understand why she never told me."
"Probably because she's a little like Haruhi; she doesn't really ask for help because she's used to doing it herself."
"Maybe. Wish she could trust us."
Hikaru raised his eyebrow at his twin. "You mean trust you?"
Karou bit his lip thoughtfully. Maybe.
