How could I ever feel so incomplete when in the first place, I’m with the woman who makes me feel so complete? Am I at fault for feeling this way?

“Kief.” She called me softly, but enough for me to hear.

I did not respond. I just focused attention to the road. But my mind is busy of thinking of something else.

She heaved out a heavy sigh. “Kief, hindi habang buhay natin to maiiwasan.”

I stepped on the breaks. Buti nalang walang ibang sasakyan sa daan.

“I’m sorry.” She said.

Nainis ako bigla. Parang bumalik lang lahat. Akala ko okay na. Akala ko okay lang, kaso hindi pala.

“Di ba napag-usapan na natin to Grace?” I asked without even looking at her, and with a hint of annoyance on my voice. “Can you just forget it?”

“Look at me.” She commanded.

I did not obey. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel and tried to calm myself.

“Do you still love me?” she asked with a weak voice.

That question struck me. Do I still love her?

There was quite a long silence between the two of us, until we heard a car honked. I was back to my senses.

“Okay, just forget that we’ve talked about it.” She said softly.

This time, I turned my head to her side. She was looking outside the window, but her reflection showed all her frustrations. I looked back at the road and started to drive again. The whole ride home was quiet.

From time to time, I would glance at her, but she never looked my way. Bakit ba kasi kailangan mangyari sa amin ‘to?

Two years ago….

“I finally pronounce you, husband and wife.” The priest said with a big grin on his face as his shifted his gaze to me. “You may now kiss the bride.”

I looked at Grace, my queen – my wife. We’ve been through a lot. And we both know that after this wedding, we will be going through more life challenges – and we’ll be facing those challenges together.

I squeezed her hand and gave her a smile. Her hands were cold and trembling. She smiled at me hesitantly. Alam ko na kung bakit.

I moved a little closer to her. She bit her lips and looked away. I chuckled with her cuteness. Hanggang ngayon, di pa rin siya sanay makipag-PDA sa akin. The same old Grace na nagustuhan ko.

“Wa-wag dito.” She whispered.

Kumunot ang noo ko. I bit my lip to suppress my laughter. Seriously?
