It’s just another dark, cold and rainy night. All I can hear is the raindrops and the banging of the wooden door by the porch. It’s already late, yet he’s still not here.
I heaved out a heavy sigh before I stood up from my seat and made my way to the porch. I immediately locked the door as I carefully held unto the knob. Basa ang sahig.
I shifted my gaze back to my working table when I heard my phone rang. Hinila ko muna ang floor mat para matakpan yung basing sahig, saka ko sinagot ang phone.
“Babe.” I said. “Gabi na, saan ka na ba?”
I heard him sigh. “Sorry Grace, I can’t make it tonight.”
My hands began to tremble. “Wh-why?”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to call you kanina.” He said. “Pero extended kasi yung training namin dito.”
I bit my lower lip to suppress my tears. “Ga-ganun ba? O si-sige. Take a rest na. baka pagod ka na eh.”
“I will.” He said. “Matulog ka na rin. You need a rest.”
“Happy Valentine’s day babe…” I whispered as a tear fell from my eye.
“Happy Valentine’s day..” he mumbled. “Grace.”
“I have to go okay?” he said. “Goodnight.”
“Go-goodnight.” I managed to say as I immediately ended the call.
Hindi ko na napigilan ang sarili ko. Isa-isang tumulo ang mga luha ko. I immediately wiped every tear that would fall from my eyes, pero may tumutulo pa rin.
We’ve been married for more than two years now. Kung dati, we were so sure that love was enough for us to hold on to each other, but I guess, we’re wrong.
I wiped my tears and made my way to my table. Tiningnan ko yung dalawang libro na mag-kapatong. I bit my lower lip and sighed.
“Parang flashback lang..” I mumbled to myself as I took the first book.
It was the first book I have ever written. It was entitled Love Game. The book I have written for him, for Kiefer. Sinulat ko yung mga nangyari sa amin, from the very first time we met, until that time we broke up. Parang diary lang ng love story namin, but it was written like a novel.
In that book, we ended whatever we had, but I never thought another chapter of our story was bound to be made. May book two, just as how our love story had its second chance.
I took the other book, entitled Game of Love and heaved out a heavy sigh. Sa librong ito, nabigyan kami ng second chance. Sa librong ito, we were back in each other’s arms. Sa librong ito, we had our happy ever after. But I guess I’ll be writing my third book…
