"We love you. We need you."

And there you sat, atop of the letter 'H' on the Hollywood sign, looking out at the breathtaking view.

Alone.

This was something you have wanted for as long as you could remember:

Peace and quiet.

THREE HOURS EARLIER

"Mom, you think I can go out tonight?" Your sixteen year old daughter, Rose, asked while you did the dishes.

"Um, who with?" You asked, trying to concentrate on both her and your chore.

"Zara and Bree." She replied.

"Where will you guys be hanging out?"

"The mall."

"Do you have money?" You asked her.

"Yeah, I can use last week's allowance." Rose replied.

"Do you need a ride there?" You asked, scrubbing a bowl that your seven year old twins, Zoey and Jack, stuck clay in.

"No, Bree's girlfriend will be driving us there."

"Have I met Bree's girlfriend?" You asked your daughter.

"Uh, no I think they just started dating."

"Okay, fine. Just be safe honey, okay? Call me if you need anything and don't forget to text me when you get there!"

"Yeah, yeah." Rose said, giving you a kiss and walking out the door.

You finally got the clay out of the bowl, doing a small victory dance. Finally, the dishes were done. You went to go check on Jack and Zoey.

Jack and Zoey didn't share rooms like every other cliche twin siblings did. They had separate rooms due to the fact that they were polar opposites!

Jack was a neat freak, he likes everything clean and organized. Zoey was the complete opposite; she liked everything scattered about on the floor.

It just wasn't the best match.

Anyway, you went to go check on Zoey first. Zoey was in her room, making snow angels with the laundry on the floor. You giggled to yourself;

She was just like Mark.

You then walked over to Jack's room. You peered into the door way to find him banging on his drum set. Sean got him that for his birthday. You took a deep breath and headed over to the living room.

You sat on the couch, closing your eyes for the first time in what seemed like years. Rose is a young woman now, Jack and Zoey are growing up...

Motherhood had really become you. You arose from the couch and headed to bedroom where your husband was sleeping. You slowly opened the door, peeking through the small crack.

He was out like a light. You closed the door quietly, trying not to disturb him. You then headed back to the living room, slipped on a pair sneakers and grabbed your keys.

You took one last look at the peaceful house before leaving.
