Chapter 4

Keila

“How’s she, mom?” Blake immediately asked as mom and I arrived.

“She had fever,” My mom answered as my brother kissed her check then went to me to kiss my forehead.

“But I'm fine now, big bro,” I told Blake as he eyed me carefully.

“Always take of yourself, little sis,” He told me.

“I’m no longer little,” I protested and rolled my eyes. “And I always take care of myself.”

“Yeah, that's why you got rushed to the hospital.”

I glared at him. He's three years older than me and he's already in 12th grade but he's studying in an all boys' school. We both look like twins since we've got the same features and mom said we had it from our suddenly MIA father. The fact that made me absolutely jealous of Blake was that he was a six footer or practically taller while I only managed 5’11 feet.

“Now, now,” mom cut us off. “Go to your room and prepare to sleep, Keila. The doctor said you need rest.”

“Yes, mom.”

Then I saw Blake smile at me slyly. Before I could run, he caught me and carried me to his shoulder while I hang on his back like a sack.

“Blake!” I screamed. “Put me down, right now! Mom!”

I raised my head to only see mom shake her head and disappeared towards the kitchen.

I slapped my brother's back and muttered obscenities at him to avoid mom from hearing it. Blake ignored me the whole time even as we arrived the second floor then to my room. He slammed me to my bed without warning.

“Goodnight, sis!” he hastily left my room and I heard him close his own bedroom door.

I groaned. Then something occurred to me.

“My requirements!” I panicked and immediately stood up.

I went outside my brother's room and knocked or more on slammed at it.

“Hey, hey, hey,” he told me as he opened his door. “No need to wreck my door. What is it?”

“I need to borrow your car!” I told him.

“It’s already late, Keila. Where will you go?”

“To the nearby mall. I need to buy some requirements for tomorrow.”

“I’ll go with you. You must’ve forgotten that you’re still under aged,” he told me. “I’ll just change so wait for me downstairs.”

I nodded and did as told.

Ten minutes later we were already at the mall's school and office supply store.

“I want some ice cream,” I told him after paying at the cashier.

“You just had fever,” he told me.

“Says the guy who tortured me earlier,” I muttered.

He head locked me and I choked in surprise.

“You were saying?” he whispered at me.

I gave him the deadliest glare I could muster and he released me with a grin.

“Let’s go to our fave ice cream parlor,” I demanded.

“Sure thing my lovely sis,” he said and wrapped an arm on my shoulders and forced me to walk faster towards the designated ice cream parlor.
