Chapter 3

Nathan

Stupid girl.

She really is, I'm telling you.

I caught her just in time before she had hit the ground. Since the school clinic's already closed, Drake and I brought her to the nearest hospital immediately. She was burning as hell that Drake panicked when we both felt her skin.

Now I'm stuck inside a hospital room with this girl. Drake went out to call her parents from her own cell. Then the girl shifted from the bed, starting to wake up.

"Am I dead?" she muttered as her eyes fluttered open, staring at the ceiling.

"Then you should be in hell since you're with me," I muttered back.

Her eyes widened a little as she finally realized I was sitting right beside her bed. Then she furrowed her eyebrows at me, "Why the heck am I with you?"

My eye twitched. Wow, she's got a great way of showing gratitude.

"You're welcome," I snapped at her annoyingly and stood to leave the room. She didn't say a word as I left, closing the door behind me.

Drake was outside, talking to a woman in her late forties dressed formally. They both looked at me as I approached them.

"Hey Nathan," Drake patted my back. "This is her mother, Mrs. Jean Takumi. Ma'am this is my friend, Nathan Henderson."

I nodded at her as we shook hands.

"Pleased to meet you, dear," she said and smiled at me. "Drake here told me that you helped my daughter. Thank you so much."

"No problem," I said.

"So," Drake spoke up. "Is there anything else we could help you with, ma'am?"

Keila's mom patted Drake's shoulder.

"You could just call me Jean, my dears," she chuckled. "Let's drop the formalities since I owe you boys. And thank you offering but I could take everything from here."

I nodded. "By the way, Keila just woke up."

Jean's eyes lit up. "Really? Then I better go to her now. How about you boys?"

"We better get going," I said before Drake could speak.

"Do you want to say goodbye to her though?"

"No," I spoke right away before Drake could speak for me once again. "We'll see each other at school soon anyway."

"Again, thank you," Jean said and smiled at us. "And I'm sorry for the trouble."

"Not at all Jean," Drake said happily. "Like what Nate said, we better get going."

He even gave me a side glance. Remind me to kill him soon.

We used my car in going home to our own condominium. Yes, we're both living together. There are five of us in total who came from London including me and Drake. Some weren't able to come due to some issues. The other three lived in the same condo but it was the unit across mine and Drake.

"When are you going home?" Drake asked me and I gave him a brief glance. "To your cousin's house, I mean."

I shrugged and kept my eyes on the road.

"Maybe soon," I said. "I miss my sister too."

"Why shouldn't you live there then?"

"It's too risky. Besides, Thalia herself isn't there. Only our other cousin, Misaki and the bodyguards are keeping an eye on my sis."
