Chapter 6

Keila

Nathan's forehead creased when he saw me.

“What do you need?” he asked me.

I scoffed. “You’re so full of yourself.”

“Excuse me?”

I rolled my eyes.

“Okay, I'm sorry,” I said and sighed. I pulled out a box of cupcakes from my bag and pushed it in his chest so he would take it and good thing he did. “My brother said I should give them for you and Drake and also for the girl with you. It's for saving us last night and we’re honestly grateful for what you did.”

“No problem,” he said. “And thanks for the cupcakes.”

I gave him a small smile and glanced at the letters on the floor that fell from his locket.

“Need help with those?” I said, gesturing at the letters.

He shrugged. “And what will you do with them?’
I pulled out a plastic bag from my bag which was folded into a triangle and handed it to him.

“Let’s place the letters inside the plastic bag and leave it in your locker so you could bring them home later,” I told him as he started to unfold it.

“Why would I bring them home?” he said. “I’m not going to read them.”

“I didn't say you should read them,” I said and rolled my eyes. “You can't just let your admirers see that you threw their letters into a bin and hurt their feelings.”

“Then so be it. The letters annoy me a lot. What are they, kids? They should stop this and grow up.”

“You should just be grateful that people like you.”

“I never asked them to like me.”

I face palmed and groaned. “Let’s just start with the letters so we could go to our own classrooms before we get late.”

He placed the box above the lockers for a while and we both started placing the letters inside the plastic. Some letters were even scented and decorated. Ugh, too much effort for a guy who doesn’t care about them.

I looked at my wristwatch once we finished.

“Five minutes before class starts,” I said to him.

“You’re from section B, right?” he asked and I nodded. “Let's just go together since your room's before mine.”

I nodded slowly. Right, now people will spread rumors about the two of us. I thought he would directly go inside when we reached his room but he didn't. He continued to walk with me and stopped when we reached mine.

I gave him a meaningful look.

“I’m not as rude as you think I am,” he said when he noticed the look I was giving him and tilted his head. Damn this guy and his hot looks. “Bye.”

I gave him a smile which probably looked like a grimace as I noticed how my girl classmates looked at me from inside the room.

“Yep, bye Henderson,” I said as he turned to leave towards his own room.

I ignored the looks my classmates gave to me as I passed them and sat on my chair. The girl beside me who was absent yesterday, slapped my hand.

“Ouch!” I half-yelled and half-whispered. “Venice, what was that for?”

“You’re so gonna explain to me at lunch,” she glared at me.

I rolled my eyes as our first subject teacher went in and started the class. Seeing Venice reminded me of my brother’s confession last night. Venice is really pretty but she's very girly. Like the total opposite of me when it comes to clothes. Last night, my brother and I had an agreement that none of us will mention to mom about what happened to keep the peace in our house. Mom will seriously ground us since we only left the house when mom was already asleep and hell will break loose if she’ll discover about what happened. Right before I went inside my room, I asked my brother with my forehead creased in curiosity.
