CHAPTER 7.1: Tamed
UNEDITED
xxxx“Hey Trish.” I called her out. I’m here at our dorm room. Guess this was a tiring day after all. My legs are all tired up. “Aren’t you going out for dinner?” I asked her since it's evening already. “I’m kinda tired right now, Shane. Guess you’ll go there by yourself. I’m really sorry.” She replied. “That’s okay. Anything you want?” I offered her assistance.
“Uhm. Just a slice of bread and a bottle of water will do. Thanks, by the way.”
“Okay. I’ll go ahead. Be right back!” I said while taking the door. Maybe I should challenge myself next time and take the long cut. That thought makes me want to be like a real creep, though. Or maybe, I’ll climb down the tree sometimes, or if there is a tree here, I’m pretty sure I’d like to try that one.The hallway is surely lonesome.
Well, there’s less than two students in average per year walking with me towards the “Mighty Hall”. This Hall’s not named like this if it wasn’t in the history. Mighty Hall because this is the exact place where the victorious tribe claimed their victory just two decades ago. Within the kingdom, it has different tribes fighting for a certain league, which was unknown to me though. I better ask Trisha about that some other time.
Typical Dinner Hall scene, or maybe I should call it- Typical Mighty Hall scene. Wooden tables were scattered around the Hall, neatly. There are tables that are for two persons, other tables were for six or four persons. On the tabletop lies the globe-like menu ordering station. After all, this is one of the top performing academy in the whole kingdom, so, that is why. I placed my hands on to it and I imagined my order. After 2 minutes, it materialized right before my eyes and I can’t help but to look at it with amazement. Even though I’m already on my second week here, I’m still not used to it. I can’t help but to wonder when did they start to discover this kinds of magic, how they flow, how they are used, when and why did it all start?
I head back to our dorm because I bet Trisha’s starving right now. Time check: it’s already seven-thirty. The Hallway’s a little bit quiet right now and I can’t help but to think of something scary. They say that the spirits, ghost and other out of this world’s creatures are just a fruit of our creative imagination but in here, when you think of them, they’ll just appear, maybe near or far from you and that’s why, many of our seniors are warning us when we are thinking of something. Although, high level sorcerer/sorceress can only do that, and the rest are way off the roof when it comes to their powers.
On the corner of my eye, although it’s a bit blackish and a little bit dim here in the hallway, I saw a figure or two staring at me like a creep. When I turned to their direction, they vanished right before I make a move. I shrugged, guess that’s a fruit of my imagination. Finally, I'm here. I knocked on our door. I’ll be dead if I don’t because Trisha’s experimenting on something defensive if ever someone or something will raid our dorm room. I’m thinking that there will be no one courageous enough to do that because of her, and as well as myself. Hmm. That sucks, though.
“Hey! Open up! It’s me!” it’s like a magic word because the door automatically opened up for me.
“Hey! Here’s….your…food…” I slowed down when I saw her sleeping. I placed our food (including mine because I take out too much of it) in the folding table just beside the wall. Minutes later, she woke up and walked towards the food. I don’t know if she actually see me or is she just sleep walking, or she just don’t care at all. I just know that it is the best time to ask something to her. “Trish, yuhoo! Hey, did you remember the time?” she just looked at me with a sleepy eyes while still munching some bread on her mouth. “Did you remember the person who take me here?” she nods. “Who?” I asked. “Shrasahiroyn” she said it while still at the bread. “I’m sorry? Could you repeat it again?” she swallowed the bread she’s been eating and said it again. “I said that it’s Rayvoin. Do you know him? He’s in your class.” I was shocked. Why him? And, what is he doing out there? Why did he save me? As far as I can recall, there is someone beside him on that area, and who might it be?
“Hey. I’m full. You go to sleep now. There’ll be an activity for tomorrow, I guess this is the time for the pet selection, or is it selection of pet?” she said, confusingly. “Oh. Okay. Thank you!” I happily said while climbing up to the top bunker.NEXT DAY WAS a mess. Many students were running on the hallway. Others were calmly chatting their way through the gym. Almost all of the benches were occupied and the crowded hallway doesn’t help at all when it comes to toning down the noise.
“Hey. Trish?” I called up her name.
“Yea?” she said, while facing the mirror.
“Is this occasion a little bit exaggerating?” I asked.
“Nah. Last year was a bit worst from what you are seeing right now.”
“Oh. So, it is like a small portion of last year’s event? Or, is the crowd gets a little bit thin compared to last year?” I asked.
“Hmm. I don’t think so. As far as what you are seeing right now, the seniors and the juniors were not here right at this moment. Expect that the crowd will get heavier as well as the pressure when they will arrive.” She’s done with the mirror, and now, she’s heading towards me.
“Shall we?”
“Let’s go!”The students are freely entering at the entrance. No guards or anything else. I noticed that in their wrists were some color coded wristbands. Blue for freshman, green for sophomores, and I don’t know what colors are for the juniors and the seniors. Since Trish and I were both freshmen, we’re having the blue wristband. We walked silently towards the entrance. Oh, the wristband were putted to us since we passed by the “scanner” that seems similar to what we have back on the Day 1 of our school days here.
“I’m kind of nervous.” I truthfully said to Trisha
“Nah. Don’t be! You’ll be okay.” she assured me. “After all, this isn’t just an ordinary occasion we’re having.” She winked at me.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Just like what I’ve been telling you before, you’ll know it soon.” She winked and, “This will be my seat! Found yah!” she turned to me, “Hey, I’m sitting here. I bet you’re on the front part, second row. Good luck!”
I continued walking and searching for my seat. Plastic chairs for plastic friends. Just kidding! Though, that would be nice. School funds are a little bit rough these days so they could only afford some chairs like this one.
At last! I found it! And, uhm, there’s this probability of me sitting next to Prius but, who cares? It’s just a seat. No big deal. I shrugged. I walked towards it and then sit. What else could go wrong?
“A PLEASANT MORNING, STUDENTS!” the emcee butted in. The students roared as if they’re in a concert. “FIRST STOP, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE WITH US!” the emcee smiled, “GUESS WHAT? WE HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT GUEST WITH US HERE! WANNA KNOW WHO?!” the students were so excited that they cannot contain their feelings. “IT’S NO OTHER THAN MR. BLAKE TRAVIS!” my eyes widened as soon as I saw the guest, the emcee was talking about.
How can he be here?
