Asexuality is:
1) Not a gender identity
2) Not a choice
3) Not a mental disorder
4) Not a fear of sex or romantic relationships
5) Not directly related to abstinence or celibacy
6) Not a unicellular microbial humping fest.
Asexuality is a sexual orientation, like, bisexuality or demisexuality. Asexuals are as capable of love as you and me.
Asexuality does not mean aromatic.
Although, it isn't uncommon for some asexuals to claim to be aromatic as well. We call them aromatic asexuals.
Or, in layman terms, Prudes. Kidding.
For asexuals, they experience a general disinterest in sex. Not to say they don't have sex. They just tend to approach sex more often in a scientific manner.
