It's great that Canada now lets people identify as gender neutral on their passports by providing an 'X' category within the gender segment of the document. This will be implemented by August 31st 📆 and is proof that Canada is working out proactive measures to make transgenders and gender non-conformists feel welcome and safe. This is an important step towards advancing equality for all Canadians regardless of gender identity.🙆The motion will provide a breather for intersex and trans individuals at the immigration as they will not have to face 👮 certain gender related questions they may not feel comfortable with answering.
Other countries (Australia, Denmark, Germany, Malta, New Zealand and Pakistan. India, Ireland and Nepal) have already enacted various 3rd options on their passports.
