Chapter 9: "The Rust of Us"

I awake in a wooden shack on a fluffy sleeping bag by a comforting campfire. I slowly sit up feeling a throbbing in my temple.

"H-hello?" I whisper past dry lips I look down at my new clean clothes, my all black outfit was traded in for a tan cloth shirt with matching cloth pants. I noticed Cry's mask was nowhere to be seen. I stood stumbling slightly as I gathered my barring. I know one thing for sure, I'm no longer in nether. I push the wooden door open almost blinded by the light of the sun. The shack is sitting on top of a hill overlooking the ocean.

"Run!" A familiar voice yelled from the direction of a nearly woodland area. I quickly hid behind the house looking down the hill as Nova, dad, buddy, and another guy ran up the hill as a huge grizzly bear ran after them.

I look down as a pistol forms in my hand fully loaded, I quickly switch into fight mode.

"Everyone get into the shelter!" I yell holding the bear in the pistols aim, I shoot the bear right in it's temple making it shatter into a billion pixel pieces.

I slowly lower my gun trying to catch my breath.

"Holy shit, she killed it with one hit" the stranger laughs "and she's hot"

I need the strangers eyes as he places his arm around me "hey, I'm Aleks but my friends call me immortal" he spoke with a cocky tone in his voice as if just telling me his name would win me over. I smile slightly as I grabbed his arm throwing him down onto his back in one move putting my pistol in his face.

"Woah woah calm down baby!" Nova placed his hand on my shoulder, I quickly turn my attention to him taking my hand off Aleks pushing Nova up to the wall of the shed pinning him to it.

"You are NOT allowed to call me that... Not anymore" I growled through my teeth "you left me, you're nothing to me now"

"Just say what you told me James!" Buddy cut in "it'll bring her back from mad Eleanor"

Nova's eyes meet mine "Baby, I'm sorry for leaving you! I tried writing you but the guy at the post office told me that your address had changed, your letters kept getting sent back"

That's right, after those girls beat me up dad had changed our address and took me out of that school.

I feel a wave of calmness wash over me, the throbbing in my head stopped suddenly.

I moved slightly away from Nova making the gun vanish, I look down ashamed of myself

"I heard what those girls did to you, so I kept my distance" he whispered "but then, this guy came to me about a year after your accident... he told me about a kingdom called Victubia

and if I helped you save the kingdom that you would be safe"

"Did this man tell you who he was?" I asked

Nova shook his head "no, but I almost didn't believe him cause he looked like a madman with this white mask on-"

my eyes widened "cry... you talked to cry?!"

Nova tensed "yeah... wait you know this guy?"

"when is the last time you've spoken to him?"

Nova paused, looking down at the ground "Eleanor..."

"James don't fucking tell her!" Aleks cut in "she'll kill you, past or no past"

"Sir Uberhaxornova, in Princess Eleanor's condition she won't hesitate to kill you over the

matters of Sir Cryaotic-"

I glare at Nova feeling a wave of anger pour over me "Nova... what did you do?"

"they told me I'd find your dad in Nether, so I was walking down a street..."

(Flashback, before the events in Nether)

Nova walked down a trash and weeds covered street, abandoned cars lined the street,

suddenly a growl echos through the air followed by man more. Nova notices the man he'd

met many times before carrying a girl passed out as he threw fireballs at the black creature.

Nova ran towards them grasping his kitchen knife plunching it into the guy.

"you bastard! let her go!" Nova yelled

the man behind the mask didnt say anything as he threw another fire ball making Nova back

off as he look off running in the other direction.

(End of flashback)

I looked down, my eyes closed as I began processing everything.

"your dad was right... you would've been safer if you had stayed in our world!" Nova says firmly "Mark said it was the only way to keep you safe-"

"shut the fuck up!" I screamed in his face, tears formed in my eyes clouding my vision "all Cry has ever done his whole life was try to protect me! he loved me so much..." I feel the

memories of him flood into my head

"hi Squirt, I'm Cry" his voice ehcoed through my head remembering when he first spoke to me as a new born.

"this is will be our spot, for just the two of us. I'll bring you here and I'll read you books, you like that idea Ellie?"

"You're going to enjoy life here in Victubia and you'll be the happiest kid in the world!"

I flinch as someone places thier hand on my shoulder, I look up meeting dads eyes. I quickly stand up wrapping my arms around him sobbing into his shirt

"it's okay sweetheart, daddys here daddy isnt going anywhere" he whispered comforting me.

"I'm so sorry dad, I wish I was stronger then this... I'm so weak..."

Dad gently pulled me away from him "don't you see, you just took down a bear with one hit I've only seen that done by hackers and admins"

"She did more then kill it, she fucking deleted that shit" Aleks cut in "remind me to not piss you off when we get back to home"

we all laughed

I turn back to Nova "If I didnt love you, you'd be dead" I spoke with pain in my voice "you're going to help me rescue my family, then I will have your memories of all of this taken then

you and Aleks can go back home and forget this ever happened"

"wait a damn mintue, thats not fair!"

"give me one good reason why that isnt plenty fair!"

"cause, I have information" he said matter-of-fact

"oh really? like what?"

he pulled a flashdrive out of his pocket tossing it to me, I catch it reading the words on it

dropping it covering my mouth "this... this is a spawn"

"holy shit..." dad muttered "that can allow a player back into the game... does that mean?"

I nod "it can... bring Cry back"

(I really hope you guys like this chapter! I just pulled an all nighter to finish this chapter so that I can work on the next over the weekend, I'm applying for a job at movie tavern this weekend so if I get the job I'm going to be even more busy!
