"peter, i don't want to fall asleep"

Ten minutes after we had left the park, we realized that we hand become a bit lost. Peter still had his arm wrapped around my shoulder, walking us through the dark streets. I was no longer shivering, but I wasn't about to leave the warmth of Peter. He was unusually radiating heat, almost to the point of being a literal heater.

"Peter, you're like really hot," the words tumbled out of my mouth before I could fully process what I was really saying.

Peter's arm tightened around my shoulders and I could feel his torso tense. "Wait, what- like-"

"I mean like physically, or no- well yes that too, but I meant like warm," I stumbled over every word, and I could fell my face becoming inflamed. The worst decision I made was to shift out from under Peter's arm, immediately becoming cold again.

Peter just continued to look at me confused. I just couldn't say anything right tonight.

"How about we call a taxi or something, I think we are lost," I told Peter, looking up and down the street, hoping to see a taxi. Peter nodded in agreement, crossing his arms.

"I don't know if we'll be able to find one out here now, it's almost 1:30. We'll probably have to call," he shrugged as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. Grabbing my phone out of my back pocket, I couldn't believe that it was already 1:30, and my mom hadn't texted me yet. Although she had been busy lately, she usually likes to stay update on my life and whereabouts. She does like Peter though. Peter had visited multiple times and had dinner with my mom and I over the past month. I think she's starting to trust Peter more than me.

"I called us a cab; it should be here in about five minutes." Peter slid his phone away in his back pocket and awkwardly stuck both his hands in his front pocket.

Five minutes was along time to just sit in silence. The few seconds before Quentin attacked floated back into my mind. Peter had basically confessed his undying love for me. Well maybe undying love was a bit of an over exaggeration, but crush and undying love is the same thing. Was I suppose to bring it up now, or wait for him to say something?

Instead, I sat down, leaning against the stone building with a flashing closed sign. Peter sat down next to me, almost close enough to rub shoulders. I could feel the heat radiating off of him, and all I wanted to do was lean closer. Peter was fiddling with his fingers, as we waited for the taxi.

I hoped Peter didn't think I didn't like him. Since yesterday, I had realized that Peter was more than just a best friend and some boy. My first real crush happened to be the first boy I met, and someone I thought I would never be this close to.
