Hush

Chapter 1

I walked up to where Carmen was while her lips were stuck to her boyfriend's face. I did a fake cough then they both turned to look at me. Carmen linked arms with me "bye  Jada" Alex mocked as I walked off with Carmen. We made our way to my locker "What do you have first period?" I pulled out my phone and handed it to her "Child Development oh my gosh Alex has that class too" I did a fake smile I didn't really like Alex he's just annoying and a player. The bell rung "wow time went by so fast" ever since  Carmen started dating Alex she's been spending so much time with him. I'm happy for her but I just wish she would've dated someone better. I walked into the class and took a seat in the front because I knew Alex would try to sit by me and I didn't want him to. "Just a heads up who ever you are sitting with will be your partner for the whole year." I watched as kids poured into the classroom and not one person bothered to sit next to me. Alex rolled in and sat down beside me "I don't know if you wanna sit here we will end up being partners for the whole year." He didn't move. The teacher wrote her name on the board "now this class is very fast pace so you have to pay attention" I looked over at Alex who was already on his phone. "We are going to jump right into our first project and I'm telling you guys this project is worth a lot." She started to hand out packets of papers that read Baby Contract. "We did this in 9th grade" all eyes fell on the girl in the back "Yes Ms. Greene you did but you did it with real care babies not real ones" I looked at the teacher confused "Are you saying we're raising a real baby" she smiled at me and nodded her head yes "so everyone get to know your partner because you'll be spending a lot of time with them" I looked at Alex shocked "If you turn the paper there will be questions for you and your partner let me know if you need help." I looked at the questions. Question number 1 Would you prefer a girl or boy? "Definitely a boy" Alex said. I circled boy. Question number 2  How would you choose the days? I looked up at Alex "I guess back and forth and we share Sunday." I wrote down what he said "I'm surprised you're okay with this" I ignored him. Question number 3 if it's your night and you can't get the baby to calm down what would you do? I looked up at Alex and saw him back on his phone "pay attention" he put his phone down "sorry." I raised my hand and watched as the teacher finally made her way over to us "If I wanted to get a new partner can I?" She shook  her head no "This whole project is so you can learn to work with each other." The teacher walked away I looked back at the questions. Question number 4 Do you think this project will change your relationship with your partner? Alex looked up at me "time will tell" before I could say anything the bell rung and he was already out the door.
