Turned Out

I grabbed my purse from the couch and reached for the door handle "Once you walk out that door don't even think about coming back." I turned to face my Aunt Jane. "Good cause I wasn't planning on it" I slammed the door behind me shut and started walking down the stairs getting all types of weird looks for the neighbors. I made my way to the bottom of the stairs and looked around until I saw May's car parked in a parking spot. I got in her car and instantly started breaking down into tears. She rubbed my back "it'll be okay" she said and she moved her hand off of my back and started the car. I closed my eyes and tried to piece together everything that just happened. I've been staying with my aunt Jane ever since my mom went to jail for attempting to kill my dad when he left us. Growing up with her raising me it was great she treated me like I was her own daughter but then I don't know what changed she just became all rude and started drinking and having all types of men over and treated me like I was shit. After a while, you get tired of being stepped on and you just have to do something so I did. Earlier she had some guy over and he tried to touch on me telling me if I didn't let him it would be worse for me so I hit him with a glass bottle. I didn't hurt him sadly but of course, my aunt took the man's side and that's when I decided I needed to leave. "What am I going to do May?" I asked looking over at her as we pulled in to Mc Donald's drive-thru. "Right now you are going to eat then we'll go to my place and try to figure it out from there" I laid my head on the window and looked outside.

We were now at May's house in her room eating our food watching t.v. "Are you sure your parents don't mind me staying?" I asked not wanting to feel like a burden. "You're basically fam-" she was cut off by her phone ringing. She grabbed it from the side table and answered it "What's going on?" I looked over at the clock and checked the time it was 8 pm at least this day was almost over. "Right now?" She looked over at me and we made eye contact with each other. "Okay fine I'll be there soon" she hung up the phone and continued to eat her sandwich focusing back on the t.v. I laughed at her then grabbed the remote and turned the t.v off. "Who was on the phone?" I asked as she looked at me like I was crazy "my brother he needs me to come over later" I thought about it for a minute. "You mean as your brother Tony the one who just got out of jail not too long ago" she nodded her head yes. "Do you need me to come with you?" I asked her. She shook her head no "because you need to go to Walmart and get you everything you may need since you're going to be staying here" she got up from her bed and I followed behind her out the front door. We were now at some abandoned building "So what now?" I asked confused. "Now you go to Walmart I'll see you at home" she got out the car and walked into the building. I got out of the passenger seat and got in the driver's side. Once I made it to Walmart I went straight to the basics and started picking up all the toiletries I would need. I went to grab a toothbrush but was pushed to the ground by someone. "Oh, I'm sorry you okay" I looked up and saw some girl reaching to help me off the ground. I got up on my own picking up my phone off the ground seeing it was cracked."Shit," I mumbled to myself. "I'm so sorry about your phone here let me pay to get it fixed" I shook my head no. "No seriously" she reached in her purse and pulled out some money. She gave me the money "I'm Faith" she smiled at me. "Nova" I counted the money it was 400 hundred dollars. "I can't take this it's too much" she shook her head no. "Take it, also give me your number I would love to hang out one day maybe grab lunch." I thought about it I could use a new friend right now the only person I got in my life is May. I gave her my number then went back to shopping for some things that I needed. Once I finished I went back to May's house and started to put everything away in the guest room. There was a knock on the door. May walked in laying down on the bed. "You okay?" I asked her sitting next to her. "Yeah just my brother he's so overprotective" I didn't know much about May's brother all I knew was that they called him Ty and that he sold weed and he was known in the streets until he got caught up one day and he had to do 5 years in jail. He got released last year and he did whatever it took to get his title back but their parents didn't like that so they sort of disowned Ty and told May she couldn't see him again but May threaten to leave with Ty if they did anything to keep them apart and ever since then her family has been distant from one another. "What happened?" I asked her. "No, what happened to your phone?" She asked taking it out of my hand "nothing I bumped into someone at Walmart and dropped it" she looked up at me. "It was no big deal she even gave me money to get it fixed" she nodded her head. "Get some sleep you're coming with me tomorrow to my brother's." I just nodded there was no negotiation with her. I watched as she walked out of the room and I turned off the lights and laid down in bed. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with my life.
