It Starts Here...

It was Friday morning, a couple of months more and its the end of classes. I was already walking inside the school gates when I heard group of girls laughing. I walked to see what's wrong and saw that they were laughing at my friend, Seung-Hyun. I'm Kate Phillips. I'm studying in Korea but there's not a drop of Korean blood on me. My dad's just working here. Anyways, I walked up to the girls,

"why are you teasing Seung-Hyun?" I asked. Probably they didn't understand me. But they looked at me and one of the girls said,

"Oh, the American girl. What do you care?" Her accent was still Korean but she knows how to speak English. Then her friend whispered something on her ear and the girl's eyes widened.

"Oh, sorry to tease your 'boyfriend'!" She and friends laughed and walked away. I sighed and looked at Seung-Hyun. He's my one and only friend in this school and he's pure Korean. I sat next to him.

"Are you alright? Sorry about that." I said. He doesn't speak English that much but he understands me.

"I'm fine. Kamsamnida (thank you)." But he didn't looked fine. To be honest, he's kinda chubby that's why people tease him. I hate it when they do that. I stood up,

"Come on. We need to go to class." I took his hand and went inside the school. It was lunch time and we were sitting under a tree when a bunch of girs went in front of us.

"Oh, there's Kate and Seung-hyun again. Sorry to mess your date!" They laughed. I stood up, I can't control my anger.

"Me and Seung-hyun are not dating. I can't take you girls teasing him! Leave us alone!" I said. Probably they didn't understood me, because they just walked away, glancing at me while murmuring some Korean words. I sat back down again.

"mian dangsin-i gwanlyeondoei. (I'm sorry you got involved into this). I understood perfectly. I kinda felt sad for him.

"Don't worry about it Seung-hyun. I understand."  I said.

1 more week and it's summer time! I got out quickly at school with of course, Seung-hyun. We've been talking about YG Entertainment for weeks now, he's a great rapper and singer. I'm going with him on the audition.

"Come on."  We ran quickly until we arrived, not much people were in for the audition which is great.

"Go! haeng un eul bil eo yo (goodluck)!" That's just one of the Korean words I learned.  A couple of minutes later, I was waiting for him outside and he went out. he looks sad,

"I, I didn't make it." He said. He told me the reason and I was outraged. He was not accepted because he was not a good image for YG just because he was 'chubby'.

"Ugh! Don't worry about it Seung-hyun! They don't know what 'talent' is!" I emphasised on the talent part. We walked back home and Seung-hyun was quiet. "Don't worry Seung-hyun. Everything will be fine. You're amazing to me." I smiled at him. He smiled back, I think that lift up his spirit, somehow.

I went back home, Mom was quiet and so was my baby brother, James (who's 8) was also sad. I walked to my mom, "What's wrong, did something bad happened?" I asked. My voice was tense, I hate it when they're quiet and sad.

"Your dad called," my mom started.

"He said that were going back to America." she said. I didn't know what to feel.

"Why?" I asked.

"His boss from his old work called to him, and wanted him back. He's pay will be raised that's why he accepted it. We'll be leaving immediately after you finish this school year." She said. Mom managed a weak smile. we've been here for just a year and a half and we'll be leaving already? That night, I can't stop thinking about it. Then it popped into my mind, how will I tell Seung-hyun? I need to sleep. Last day of school is 2 days ahead. I thought. I closed my eyes and I sleeped.
