“Lucy, I fucking love you” I hear Jack whispering.

“Jack, get out” I moan. He’s just woke me up at what feels like 3am.

“It’s only midnight. Budge up” he snaps. I groan and shuffle towards Conor, asleep in our bed.

“What do you want?” I rub my eyes and sigh as Jack gets into bed with me.

“To thank you for talking to Eleanor” he whispers. I can’t even think straight.

“Okay” I sigh. “What happened?”

“We’ve been talking about it since you left and now I can’t sleep” he moans. I smile slightly and open my eyes to see him.

“What were you saying?”

“We’ve decided that we’re not going to do anything until the end of Sweden so we can work out how we feel. And while she’s in Cheshire, we’ll text and stuff and if we still feel the same the next time she comes down to Brighton, we’ll maybe have a relationship” he explains and I can feel the smile in his voice. It’s too dark to see his face right now.

“Aw Jack, I’m so happy for you!” I try to sound enthusiastic but this is killing me. I am so happy for them both though.

“We kissed” he tells me and I gasp.

“Oh my god!” I squeal. “At least I don’t have to go out in the snow half naked now”

“True” he laughs. “The competition’s like tomorrow, Lucy. I’m scared”

“Me too” I yawn. “Look, are you staying in here all night or are you going back in there?”

“I’ll go back. I just wanted to say thanks” he whispers, climbing out of bed.

“Welcome” I laugh and instantly fall back to sleep.

Things are still the same between Eleanor and Jack except they’re with each other a lot more often. I’ve finally learnt my trick for the competition! Yeah, it took me another five hours today but I’ve nailed it and so has Eleanor. I’m not going to stop practising though. Jack’s nearly learnt his but Conor’s still practising with Lily. He’s only learnt one part of his trick. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in like 3 days.

Dad and Matt were watching us a few minutes ago but left to go skiing. They wanted to see the whole thing in the competition rather than in training. It’s Friday which means the competition is tomorrow and I’m literally shitting it.

It’s not helping that Conor’s been with Lily all day too. He wasn’t even in bed this morning because he wanted to get ‘extra practice’ with Lily. I can’t help but feel slightly jealous. I mean, Lily’s perfect, what’s not to like? Those two spending time together is ruining my mood more and more by the minute but I just have to keep remembering that he’s only training for the competition. Nothing more.

I’m still jealous.

He’s having so much fun out there with her and I’m just sat here watching them. It hurts even more because Conor has barely even acknowledged me today. The only thing he’s said to me was ‘hi’ and Eleanor had to tell me that he left this morning to get extra practice.

“I’ll be right back” I tell Eleanor. She barely acknowledges me either because she’s too into her conversation with Jack. I feel so left out. I pick up my board and make my way into the café where Dad and Matt said they’re going. I spot them at a table and sit down on a chair to join them.

“Hey, what’s up?” Dad asks.

I shrug, “I’m bored out there”

“Lucy, you look miserable” Dad frowns.
