Neverland and Peter Pan

Chapter 12

It took over almost an hour for us to get to the faires territory. Peter stayed by my side all the way there. Felix was on his right side. I felt protective of Peter. He is my leader after all.

The fairies kept glancing back at us. When we arrived, the fairies places was like a small city. They were all gathered around the center of the place. A woman sat on a throne. Her eyes sharp and deadly but she had a nice face on. She examined Peter and his lost boys. But when her gaze fell on me, her look softened quite a bit and I felt a stirring begin inside of me. Peter noticed her gaze on me and rudely said,

"Queen Clarion. You called us all here for something meaningful I hope."

She didn't tear her gaze from me as she responded,

"Yes, Peter. You have something of mine and I'd like to have it back."

"I haven't stolen from you."

"Not intentionally. But I need it now."

"What is it you need?"

Queen Clarion looked at Peter now.

"Lily."

My name from her mouth was like a sweet note from a harp. Peter was dumbfounded.

"Lily?"

"Yes, the girl beside you."

"But Queen Clarion, she is a lost girl. What use is she to you?She's never met you."

"Peter, you are right. She and I have never met, but she is related to me. Not by blood, I don't know how. She doesn't know how. But she is related to all fairies. It's in her bloodline. I sensed her when she first came here but you found her first."

I interjected,

"But I'm human. I've been human my whole life."

Queen Clarion smiled at me,

"My dear, you are everything but human."

"I think my parents would've told me if I wasn't human."

"They wouldn't tell you if they knew your life would be at risk if they did. I know what you are, but how you're related to fairies I don't know."

Peter asked before I could,

"What is she?"

"It's quite simple really... but I can't say yet until...she does something for me."

"What's that?" Peter and I asked.

"Sing for me Lily. Any song will do. The river is close so the mermaids will be able to hear you. If you can get them to sing and get me to sing, then I'll tell you." Queen Clarion sounded anxious.

"Sing?"

"Yes, the mermaids responded to you once. Let's see if you can do it again. They said you sang quite beautifully, I want to hear for myself."

Peter said nothing beside me, but I could tell he was thinking over something. Before he could say anything to get us in trouble, I agreed to the Queen's terms.

"Of course, Queen Clarion. Just give me a few minutes."

She nodded and I started pacing around. It felt like no song would come to me, then a song I knew I could sing and feel popped in my head. Stepping a few steps away from the lost boys and Peter, I didn't look back at them,

"I'd like to begin, Queen Clarion."

She smiled her approval and I started to sing with my full heart.

"There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But You sing to me over and over and over again"

The mermaids instantly joined in melodic tones.

"So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands

Then Queen Clarion joined in, her voice blending with mine.

At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back

Queen Clarion summoned me closer. She came from her chair to meet me halfway. Hugging me then pulling away, she looked me in they eye and said,

"You are a dragon."
