There was a swift knock at the door, and Xander ran to get it.
"Hi what can I do for-OH! High Priest Zane! Hi! What are you doing here?"
"Hello. Is Xander here?" He asked.
"Well, your looking at him! Whaddya need, your highness?"
Zane grumbled under his breath, something that I couldn't hear. Than he said " I was looking to recruit you for the Jury of Nine."
"Wha wha wha... REALLY?!"
Zane rolled his eyes.
"Wait.. but wouldn't I be gone all day?"
"Yes. You'd be out doin missions."
"Oh. Um... High Priest, I would honestly love to, but... I have to take care of my siblings."
One of his guards looked over Xander's shoulder to Loki.
"She looks old enough to be by herself." The guard pointed out.
"Well, there are two others, younger than her. Celeste is 5, and Lily is 6 months.
"I see. Well Xander, what if I had a guard watch them?"
" I dunno your highness. I'll get back to you on it?"
Zane shrugged and walked off .
Xander shuts the door after him.
"Well. What should I do, Loki?"
I glare at the door.
"Stay away from him. I-i, I feel bad things around him." My eyes widen.
"Loki, if he was that bad, then he wouldn't be High Priest."
" No Xander. You don't understand. That man... he kills people. I've seen it."
"Dude, stop trying to scare me. I'm not Celeste, and I didn't just ask to be on the Jury of Nine by a killer."
"I have the terrifying feeling that if you talk to him again... Bad things will happen. To everyone. Even you."
We were interrupted by Lily's cries.
I knew that if Xander was going to bring Zane closer to this family, I was going to need to protect it.
I was ripped between now and the past.
"I can just tell your family you left. They'll never know. Now tell me what the girl can do."
Rippppppppp
"I can't. I'll never put Loki's life in danger. She she's my daughter."
"OK. Goodbye, Enki."
"Xander. Just be careful around Zane."
