It wasn't like Kyungil had the intentions of following YiJeong around. No, that wasn't his intention at all. Even though he secretly wanted to make sure YiJeong would have a secure and stable life as a motherless boy, he didn't mean to continuously follow him up until college days too.
Oh, but to make matters worse he even got involved with said human! How is he supposed to explain to others that he's a 'grim reaper' who enjoys the company of a human? And the biggest question of all; how is YiJeong still not bothered by being an acquaintance of someone that's not even technically alive? He's always answering with things like "Well Kyungil, you're nice to me so I don't mind" and "you're not hurting me so why does it matter?"
But it doesn't erase the fact that people often stare at the two when they're out in public together. And there's no doubt in Kyungil's mind that people stare because he looks like death and YiJeong resembles a ball of sunshine. It's not like Kyungil wants people to see him, but he can't allow YiJeong to walk around and seem as though he's talking to himself when in reality Kyungil is right next to him.
"You overthink too much," a small hand on his shoulder breaks him out of his daily thoughts. Kyungil turns slightly to the right to face the shorter boy before answering him,"and you should really warn me before you touch me so suddenly YiJeong." "Oh blah blah, I know I know. Sorry," YiJeong answers while removing his hand and sticking it in his jacket pocket,"it's just that every time I see you after classes, you're always thinking about something and I'm almost always positive it's about nothing important."
Kyungil scoffs before rolling his eyes and making his way down the steps that lead up to the main classroom building. The building YiJeong always has his last class in, and of course Kyungil only knows this because he's observant. (Yeah right, more like stalkerish)
"You have such little respect for your elders YiJeong, it's almost frightening how you degrade me so easily. As if I think about unimportant things." YiJeong let's out a small giggle that Kyungil decides to ignore (actually no he doesn't) and grabs onto the olders jacket sleeve. "You said we could get coffee today and it's cold so you can't change your mind last minute like you always do."Kyungil curses YiJeong for remembering the promise to go get coffee. It's not like food or drinks have an affect on him anyways, he's dead remember? But it does have an effect on his wallet; especially since YiJeong always expects him to pay (but it's not like he denies the younger anyway).
"I wasn't going to change my mind, thank you," Kyungil answers in a snarky tone before speeding up his walking pace. YiJeong giggles again and struggles to keep up, but never lets Kyungil's jacket sleeve go.

"Kyungil," YiJeong calls out softly later that night when he's in bed after finishing up homework and such. Kyungil, who's usually just sitting around somewhere in the largely, vacant feeling house, answers back immediately,"yes?"
"Do you think he'll come home tonight," YiJeong asks, and really, Kyungil should've expected the question. YiJeong asks it just about every night, but it doesn't mean that Kyungil wishes he wouldn't. "No." His answer is short and simple, as it always is.
"Don't you ever wonder why he doesn't come home," YiJeong asks in a louder voice this time. And again,"no," Kyungil responds. "Why?"
"YiJeong," Kyungil begins but promptly gets cut off. "No I get it, don't answer," the younger responds.
No matter how many times Kyungil hears the question, it still bothers him. Because not only did YiJeong grow up motherless, his father didn't stick around much longer either. Apparently Yoo Mi dying was just too much and so that gave way to him leaving without so much as an explanation. Yet every night YiJeong would ask about his father in hopes that he'd come home, but Kyungil could almost guarantee that his father wasn't thinking of him. In the 21 years that YiJeong had been alive, he'd only known his father personally for 5, but he still hoped he'd return.
"You should really get some rest YiJeong, I'll be here if you need me," Kyungil says.
"Fine, goodnight."

Okay it's not Friday, I know. But I didn't have homework and my day was kind of chill so I decided to write and give a few small details on the kind of relationship these two have and the one YiJeong wishes he had with his father. This chapter is pretty short and I'm hoping to get them to be longer in the future so that I don't have 100000+ chapters haha. Don't forget to vote and give some feedback!
