I wake up with someone shaking my shoulder. My eyes flutter open and I see Luke shaking my shoulder.

"The flight ended," he says before getting our bags down from the overhead bin.

"Thanks but I could have done that myself," I say groggily.

"It's no problem," he says, walking away.

I stretch a little before grabbing my bags and walking off the flight.

San Jose, California

I rub my eyes.  Did I really take a flight to a place so close to LA? God I'm an idiot.

I trudge over to where I'm supposed to go when I pull out my phone.

I see Daniel's tweet:

"She left me. She left me without notice. She left me without a goodbye. She left me without a last kiss. She left me in the middle of the night."

A dark pit in my gut opens and I feel like crying but I contain myself since I'm in an airport. I decide to tweet something else too.

"I didn't want to leave you without a goodbye but you gave me no choice. I wish you well but I'm afraid this is our farewell."

I tear does leak out of my eye this time. I quickly swipe it away before sniffling a little. I don't feel much as I continue through all the airport stuff. As I stand at the exit, I wonder  Where will I stay?

"Hey!" Luke says, walking over to me.

"What is it?" I groan.

"Nothing, I just figured since you left without warning that you wouldn't have a place to live," he says kindly.

"How?" I ask.

"Well, I mean I follow you guys. But do you want to stay with me until you get back on your feet?" he offers.

"Sure guy-who-I-met-on-a-random-flight," I say with a chuckle.

"Okay, cool. I have a studio apartment. It has two bedrooms though," he says.

"Why does it have two?" I question.

"Because I was left by my fiance not too long ago," he says sadly.

"Why were you in LA?" I ask, genuine curiosity in my voice.

"I don't know. I just wanted a break from the place that had so many bittersweet memories," he says with a sigh. "But now I'm back and better than ever."

"I'm glad you are Luke Benward, because then I won't be stuck with a heartbroken roommate," I say with a kind smile.

"You're right, having two heartbroken wierdos in a studio apartment might be too much; the walls might fall down from our joint misery," he says with a chuckle.

"Oh shut up!" I say, punching his arm.

"Look at us! We're like best friends already," he says with a wink.

"You wish you were my best friend," I say cockily.

"Oh yeah? Then tell me, who's your best friend?" he asks teasingly.

I think for a moment before giving in. "Fine! You can be my best friend!"

"Yes!" he says, pumping his arm up in victory.
