I'm A Freak!

"Hey, you're the girl from the show, the one that laughed but it didn't sound mocking," Evra says as I enter the tent that I'll be sharing with him and a guy named Darren.
"Of course, I would never laugh at a creature getting hurt, I was worried when Bippo started eating part of your amp but I giggled in relief when you saved her, plus when she snapped at me, I found that part amusing," I say.
"So, how are you effed up?" he asks.
I get confused, "Excuse me?" I adjust my bag on my shoulder.
"Freaked up, how are you a Freak?" he clarifies.
"Oh! Um, well is there a place I can set my stuff down first?" I ask.
"Uh, your corner of the tent is over there," Evra says then goes on to say that the rest of the tent is off limits especially his recording studio.
I set my bag and guitar down then listen to Legs who has been in my hair this entire time, "Shush to little eavesdropper and get out of my hair," I say.
He climbs out of my hair then down my arm and onto my bag, I unbutton the front on my dress then slide it down so my wings escape but I let the fabric go no lower than that.
I look back at Evra with a shy smile, "This, I have wings, I don't know if I can fly with them because I've never tried but there they are," I spread them, "They're delicate so please don't touch them."
"Whoa, that's actually pretty sick," Evra says.
"Plus I can communicate with creatures that don't speak English, I was just talking to my spider," I explain then get self conscious, "Would you mind turning around so I can change?" I ask.
"Oh, yeah, I'll just be over here," he says and walks to his drum set.
I change into some jeans and a swim top that ties so it won't get in the way on my wings, "That's better, you can look now, Evra," I say and my wings flutter a bit.
I smile then fold them up, the tips of my longer wings reach down to knee height, I think and look around but there isn't enough room in the tent for me to try and fly in my area so I go outside. Timidly at first but I soon calm down and think that no one is going to stare and I was right; the most I get is glances and several hellos from the other freaks. I bite my lip and go to find a wide open place before finding a place that's just wide enough with no one around.
"Okay, how do I even start? Maybe I should try to slowly find a speed that just lifts me off the ground," I say to myself, "I mean, a dragonfly has to beat its wings faster than a butterfly because it has less wing surface area, I'm fairly light but for these wings I might have to flap quite fast."
