Rainy Lullaby

I yawned and curled up behind my curtain in my designated area of the tent, it was raining outside and I always felt tired when it was raining or even sprinkling, it wasn't like I could fly in this weather anyways. Evra and Darren are already up and about, chatting up a storm that doesn't really bother me and Madame Octa was sitting on my shoulder. She came to visit last night when it was only cloudy and now she's just refusing to go back to Mr. Crepsley, I can't blame her, I don't want to go out in this heavy rain either.
"So, what do you think is up with fairy girl?" Evra asked, it was his nickname for me which I didn't mind, "She's usually up way before us."

"I don't know, maybe it's time for those two hours every four days she told me she needs," Darren replied, he'd just gotten back from a week long trip with Mr. Crepsley last night so he hasn't been around.
"Should we check on her?" Evra asked and I peeked an eye open, he wasn't seriously considering that, right?
"No, come on, she gave us two rules: don't touch her things and don't peek behind her curtain when it's closed, like now," Darren said, "They're really simple and I'd rather not have a girl who can possibly sick Octa on us upset."
"But what if she's the one sick?" Evra replied. Okay this has gone on long enough.

"Guys," I speak up with a yawn, "I'm fine, just tired because of the rain, now keep it down," I murmured, snuggling into my little nest of sorts, "And tell Crepsley that if he's looking for Octa, she's with me."
"Right uh, sorry for being so loud," Darren apologized and they both left, leaving me to rest.

Crepsley did come to pick up Octa but thankfully she came out from behind the curtain before he could move it aside and see me, it's just unsettling when people see me asleep so that's partially why I put the curtain up in the first place. I didn't wake back up until after the rain stopped that night and I was sore all over, especially my wings, they were there when I looked back but something was off...They weren't attached to me! My wings had fallen off while I slept! I hurried over to my mirror but I stopped when I realized my feet weren't touching the ground, I heard the usual fluttering of my wings but when I looked down they were on my bedding, not attached to me. I made it to my mirror and landed, the fluttering stopped and I saw...new wings, they were a shimmery silver that shined in the moonlight filtering through the window. My wings had simply molted and I got a new pair immediately, I did a few turns to see my new wings and smiled to myself. They were gorgeous, I went and picked up my old wings, putting them in the case my bass used to be in but I play that regularly so I prop it against the wall most of the time, I knew I couldn't just throw my old wings out so I might as well protect them in my case. Now to take my new ones for a test flight, I flew out of the tent and stirred up the curtains as I shot through them, they were faster than my old ones and I could steer better now, there are so many things I have yet to discover about myself.
