"Spilling pumpkin juice on her isn't going to get her to date you Harry," I pointed the obvious to my best friend, who had just slopped the drink all down his front trying to smile at Cho.
"What are you talking about?" He blushed.
"Really? You're still going to lie to me?"
"What do you want me to do, then?" He rolled his eyes, taking a bite of his toast.
"Hold on- Harry likes who?" Hermione asked, surprised.
"Uh... Cho..." Harry turned red.
"Aww... he's blushing and everything," Hermione teased. Ron was too absorbed in his sausages to notice a hurricane happen outside the window.
"When are you asking her out?" Asked Hermione.
"Never, she's way out of my league," Harry sighed.
"Ah, teenage heartbrake. Anyway I've got a book to return. See ya in Herbology," I said, walking out the Great Hall leaving Harry and Hermione to themselves.
It's funny. I always thought Harry and Hermione would end up together. They're so similar and get along so well.

"Addy!" Harry whispered in Herbology as he arrived very late.
"Yeah?"
"Wait for me tonight. Hagrid wants to tell me something about the first task and I want to tell you right away."
"Ok, sure..." I dragged, confused. It had been a week since Harry had become a Hogwarts Champion. Worry of him dying burned inside me but I made sure I didn't show it. Someone had to be strong.
That night I sat in the in the common room to find the Portrait hole open and Harry walk in. He chucked his invisibility cloak to the side and flattened his wild hair. He looked agitated as he flopped next to me on the couch.
"Harry, what-"
"-Dragons," he interrupted gravely. "That's the first task. They've got one for each of us."
"No..." I said in disbelief. "You're kidding me..."
Harry shook his head and turned towards me, gripping my hands. He looked scared to death.
"Hey, its gonna be fine," I tried to reassure him, shuffling closer to him.
"I don't know Addy. Start preparing for when I die," he said darkly. I pushed the horrifying thought out of my mind and focused.
"Stop talking like that. I know you. You're strong, Harry. No dragon is gonna get in your way. Understand?"
I could still see the worry in Harry's eyes so I did something that always soothed him. Pulling his head down so that he was lying on my lap I gently played with his hair, tangling my fingers in the mess. He smiled and squeezed my hand.
"Thanks, Addy. I don't deserve you,"
Slowly, we both fell asleep, Harry still gripping my hand and lying in my lap.
***
The next morning Ron and I were walking down the corridor as Harry and Hermione were who knows where.
"He never wanted to be in this, you know. He's so scared! I can't believe you're accusing your best friend of cheating, Ron. All just because your jealous," I spat at him.
"Yeah maybe I am. It's always 'Harry this' and 'Harry that'. I've never minded much so far but this is one step too far. 'The Boy Who Lived' and all that! He doesn't even have to try-"
