"Harry," Hermione shook the poor boy's shoulder as he groaned on the desk. "Harry we can do this. The four of is can figure it out."
It was 3AM and we were poring over books to try and make Harry able to breathe under water for an hour. No luck there.
"That, you will," a voice came from behind the bookshelves as Mad-Eye Moody appeared, sendind shivers down my spine.
"Professor," I looked up at him as Ron sprang awake.
"Come on you lot. Give the boy a break," Moody nodded towards Harry, who yawned.
"But professor Moody, the task is only hours away, and-" I began as I frustratedly shut another useless book closed.
"-Exactly. Harry should be well prepared by now and could use a good night's sleep."
Ron stretched out his fingers as Hermione sighed.
"Oh, and Waters, Granger. Professor Dumbledore would like to see you,"
Moody added. Why would Dumbledore want to see us? Maybe it was about Harry? Maybe we'd been helping him too much? But then why leave Ron?
Moody walked us out of the library with him as Harry and Ron packed the books away.
We were lead up the spiral staircase into Dumbledore's office, where Cho Chang and a little girl who I recognise as Fleur's sister were already standing in silence.
"You're all probably wondering why you've been brought here," Dumbledore said.
"As you all know, the second task is in a couple of hours, and you have been selected as each of the champion's most prized possession,"
I stood in shock. Cho was for Harry. I was Cedric's most prized possession? Must be some crazy mistake, but I decided to go with it.
But then... I had to go underwater. And if Cedric didn't find me within an hour I would be.... dead?
"And this means, that you will have to go underwater tomorrow. But do not worry, we will place sleeping charms on you so you won't feel a thing. And if your Champion fails to find you then you will be retrieved." A weight was lifted off my chest as Cho exhaled loudly.
"Shall we begin?" Dumbledore asked as I glanced nervously at Hermione. I was first to be charmed.
I stepped forward and bit my lips out of anxiety as Dumbledore uttered an incantation. At once I fell into a deep sleep, and felt myself being layed down, as if on a stretcher.
After a while, I felt myself moving, then the icy shock as I was plunged into the water, but soon I lost all feeling and blended with the water...
Harry's POV (welcome to my world, people)
I woke up hastily to the yelling of a house elf. Dobby.
"Master Harry. You must save Arana. You have to save Arana. Master wake up!"
"Arana?" I yawned. "Dobby, what are you even doing here... IT'S THE FIRST TASK!" I realised with a jolt. I didn't have a plan. I couldn't go. I might as well just sleep in...
"Master, they have Arana. Arana is kind to Dobby. Arana give Dobby socks," Dobby pointed to his mismatched, stripy socks.
Suddenly it hit me.
"They have Addy? What?" I shouted, scrambling out of bed and changing into my 'Potter' Champion's clothing. I had to get my friend back. Even if I didn't have a plan. I might as well just stick my head in the water and shout for the merpeople to give her back.
