Julian's POV

I slowly open my eyes. My phone rings on the nightstand next to me. I don't bother to answer it, probably just a junk call anyway. I roll over and try to go back to sleep. No part of me wanted to get up right now. My phone rings 3 times within the next 15 minutes. I finally break down and answer it.

"Hello?"

"Ms. Hemmingway. We.... Have bad news."

"I'm sorry, what?"

I rub my eyes.

"Chloe was found dead in her cell this morning along with a sharp peice of glass and heavily bleeding arms. We're pretty sure it was suicide. Nobody else had access to her cell and she was acting strange last night. She didn't eat any of her lunch or dinner and cried a lot." he says

"S-sh-she's dead?"

"Yes I'm afraid. I'm very sorry for your loss." he says before hanging up.

My hand trembles. Too many. First my dad then the person who helped me come out of my deep depression from losing him.

"Chloe..I-I never meant for this to happen..."

I feel the tears come down my face. I curl up into a ball and cry.

"Jordan!" I yell. Hoping he'd hear me from all the way over here. He had before so I assumed he would.

"Hey did you- What's wrong?" he asks

"It's Chloe...She.."

"What happened?" he asks

I tremble while muttering out various words before saying what I actually meant to.

"She killed herself"

I collapse on the bed and sob the loudest I ever had since my dad died.

"Why?" he says

"I-I dont know. It we probably because of what I said yesterday."

"Why? What'd you say?" he says

"That I never wanted to see her again. I was caught up in the Heat of the moment. I didn't mean it, and now I can never apologize. Its all my fault!"

"No its not. You never meant for this to happen! Dont say th-"

"Yes it is! If its not my fault then who's is it?"

He pauses a second before replying.

"Nobody's."

"What?"

"It wasn't your fault. You never meant for it to end like this."

"I-guess you're right?"

He gives a little half smile and pats me on the back. I wipe my eyes a little. Jordan was right. If I was in jail for something that wasn't technically my fault and had a friend that never wanted to see me again, I would've done the same thing.

"Hey, I know that it may seem like things are spiraling out of your control, but you have to stay strong and trust that things will get better. They will. Trust me." he says

I smile.

"Thats why I love you Jordan. You always seem to make me feel better."

He smiles. It was true. He made my life so much better in a matter of weeks.

"Thanks. I love you too." he says

We lay on the bed together for a while. Silent. It was a sad day. I don't need any excitement. But that was perfect.

The funeral was the next week. It was sad. Her fiance was there and he practically bawled his eyes out. I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder.

"Brandon. I know that it may seem like things are spiraling out of your control, but you have to stay strong and trust that things will get better. They will. Trust me" I repeated Jordan's exact words

He turns around to face me.

"Thank you. For everything. Julian." he says

I smile and nod.

"Just remember. She's always watching over you. Even in your darkest moments."

He smiles and walks out to his car. I climb In mine and look up at the sky.

Dad, take good care of Chloe. She's my best friend.
