Really Long

"Hey Julianna!" Pony yelled

"Hey pony what's up?" I asked as pony stood next to my locker.

"Nothing I just-" he was cut off my my boyfriend joe

"Julianna let's go!" He yelled

Ponyboy turned around "you know I never liked that guy" he spat "he don't treat you good"

"I know pony"

"Them why do you stay with him?" I don't know. I honestly can't tell you.

"Julianna I swear to god!" Joe said as he stood with his friends.

"One minute!" I yelled back

"Pony I'll talk to you later" I said giving him a hug

"Meet me outside for lunch" he said

"Ok see you then" I walked away to go stand with joe.

*ponyboys POV*

I exhaled loudly and watched her walk away. She stood there and he grabbed her ass and she Didn't like. She shook her head. He yelled at her. She didn't say anything back. She was scared. She looked at me horrified. I mouthed to her "are you okay?" And she said no. I walked over to her and said "Julianna can I asked you something" she was shaking

*juliannas POV*

"Y-yes" I said to pony. He put his hand around me and we walked away.

"I got my eye on you kid" joe said to pony. He just ignored it.

Ponyboy brought me outside and we say down against the. Side of the school. I just cried and cried. I can't stand being yelled at. It scared me.

"Pony I'm scared" I said. He held me in his arms.

"It's okay. It's okay" he said

"I don't know what to do" I cried

"You can't stay with him. You have to leave before he hurts you"

"I can't! If I leave he hurts me" I pulled my hair.

"Hey. I won't let him touch you"

I grew silent. "...He already has" I pulled back my hair to show the big bruise.

"Oh my god. Oh my god! Julianna. Why didn't you tell me?" He asked

"I'm scared" I cried even harder

"He won't hurt you anymore. He ain't gonna hurt you" he rocked me back and forth.

We were out. There for most of the school day. I couldn't go inside. When the final bell rang me and pony got up. He walked me home.

**a few days later**

I still haven't broken up with joe. I can't. We were in his car and brought me home. "Night. Baby" he said. I didn't smiled. I leaned over to give him a hug and he kissed me. I didn't kiss back. I don't love him so why would I?

"Night" I said and walked up to my door. I looked up and saw Ponyboy sitting there with flowers in his hand. "I guess you guys are still together" he said. I couldn't say anything

"Here. They might be dead. I've been here all day" he handed me the flowers and walked away.

"Pony wait!" I cried. "pony.." He didn't turn around. He just kept walking.

That's the last straw. I had to break up with him. But I didn't know how. I decided to do it the next time I saw him.

I haven't seen either of them for a week now. This was the longest time that I have ever gone without seeing pony. He's my best friend and I hurt him. I went to the DX to fill up my car. When I pulled in I saw Joe. I parked my car and went up to him.

"What are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you"I said low

"Ok well you're going to have to wait I'm talking to my boy"

"Trust me if you don't come with my I'm saying it in front of your friends" I said and didn't even realize Pony was there. I was too busy thinking of what was about to happen to me.

"What are you like breaking up with me?" He laughed and all of his friends laughed with him.

I just looked at him. He looked at me and his mouth dropped

"You're kidding me? You're kidding me right?!?" He was starting to yell

All of his friends left. He pushed me.

"Joe stop" I said trying to stand my ground.

"I gave you everything!" He hit me. Pony and soda came running over

"Woah woah woah" soda said standing inbetween us "don't touch the little lady"

"Get out if my way" he spat at soda "this is all his fault" he pointed at pony "should of known you were screwing him on the weekends."

"I didn't do anything!" I cried holding my cheek

"Then why the hell are you breaking up with me?"

"Because you really do give her everything" pony said stepping up "you give her nightmares. Tears. Fear... And bruises"

"Hold on we can talk about this" soda said. Soda started to walk away and tried to take joe with him. Joe snapped his arms away and walked towards me. I latched onto Ponys arm.

He just looked at me then walked away "I'm not done with you" he said looking back at pony.

I turned to pony. "Pony. I'm - I'm sorry" I said still holding his arm I was still crying.

He just looked into my eyes, he put his hand under my chin and kissed me.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out something. He unfolded the paper he handed it to me. It was a valentines day card from when we were in grade school. It read

'This year my valentine is my best friend Julianna

She is really pretty and my best friend. We have been best friend and will be best friends forever.'

I covered my mouth. I smiled and pulled my card out of my back pocket. It read

'This is for my valentine Ponyboy

He's my best friend and really cute. I wouldn't last a day without him'

He smiled as he read it.

"Does that means your my girl?" He asked

"As long as I'm the only one" I said back biting my lip.
