'I can't believe, he is already one year old.' Damien weeped with great smile, giving his son small cupcake, covered with whipped cream with rainbow sprinkles and big candle, shaped in „1". Lucien looked at it with curiosity and then, at his father. Him and Robert were sitting on his left and right.
'Come on, blow the candle. Do you remember that book? What was the drawing showing? Boy, blowing the candle, yes? Do the same now!' Robert encouraged him. Lucien breathed heavily, still not getting, what he is supposed to do. But then, suddenly, with his breathe, the small flame moved! He did that again, and it moved more! He kept doing the small blows.
'Lucien, yo-'
'Dames, no. Let him. He is having so much fun.' Damien was about to stop his son and show him proper, good blow, but Robert stopped him. As he thought about it for a second, Small was right. They let Lucien enjoy the flame, when one blow was bigger and blew out the fire. Little boy was sitting with a great suprise. Damien and Robert clap their hands.
'Yes! You did it!' Bloodmarch laughed, patting his son's head. Concerned Lucien, seeing men smiling, started laughing too. If they were laughing, it must have been good thing!
With this day, Lucien turned 1 year old.
Robert was spending whole days with him, reading books for toddlers, so he can start talking. Currently, he could day single speechsounds, like „ba" „da", things like that in general.
Lucien loved to sneak into his dad's bed. He was smart, and he pretend to be asleep. When Damien went to his room and lied in bed, Lucien would put his pillow on the ground and crawl out of his crib, fall on pillow and ran to his dad, or to Robert. He was sleeping in their house sometimes, so Lucien used every chance to hug him. Or used him to put himself back to sleep.
He loved to sleep, and he loved to play. And he loved, when his dad and Robert, who he treated like another dad, would praise him. He could understand it enough, and when they did, he was getting much happier and energetic.
'C'mon... 'dad'. Say, 'daddy'. 'Dada'! It's not that hard, Luc... 'da-da'. 'Dada'? 'Papa'? Lucien! Come oon!!' Robert was spending another hour with Lucien, trying to make him say „dad". Damien stood in doors and smiled at them.
'Hot tea, for Papa, and hot milk for my baby.' Damien gave him a cup with tea, and picked up Lucien. He sat down with him on his lap and held bottle onto his face so he can drink.
'You are going to stay today, right?' he asked Smalls, smiling. Lucien squeezed his dad's fingers and looked at Robert, like he asked him same question. The man breathed heavily, shrugging.
'I guess I don't have a choice. Look out the window. The snow is freaking blowing.' he answered, looking out the window. He was right. Winter hit them hard; everything was covered in snow, in few hours.
'I think we will go out tomorrow, Lucien will touch the snow for the first time in his life. I want to see his face. I will also go and check out that heating thing.' he said a little bit to himself, taking a sip of tea.
'It's delicious, mr. Bloodmarch.' Robert added after a moment, looking at Damien with approvement. Bloodmarch giggled, looking at Lucien, slowly falling asleep in his arms.
As Robert left downstairs, Damien made a quick, hot bath with his son. After this, he got him warm rompers and when their hair was already dry (it wasn't that easy) they both were ready to sleep. Just when Damien was going to put Lucien to his crib, Robert stopped him, going upstairs.
'Noo, no. Don't go there, it's extremly cold inside. That's why doors are closed.' Robert explained really quick. Damien stared at his face with huge questionmark.
