* Love and Lost*

  Author's POV

Daytime ~ 2 in the afternoon

Ms. Rose, a neighborhood babysitter sat on her porch Watching nine year old Shontiera Lewis jump rope in front her house. Her two long ponytail bounced at ever jump as she counted.

"Eight, nine , ten ,eleven..".

"Child you better slow down and take a breather" Ms. Rose said with a laugh.

Ms. Rose was in her late forties she was watched almost everyone child in the neighborhood because everyone knew they could trust Rose. She was a sweet loving caring woman who always looked out.

Rose knew Living was hard and she dare not judge she looked out even if you didn't have the money to pay her long as she seen you trying. A few years ago Rose lost her only son to a drive by shooting ever since then she always told people life was too short to have a chip on ya shoulder.

It was quarter to the three in the afternoon and Rose and Tiera knew her parents would be here at any minute. Within a few minutes Tiera spotted her father's truck sitting at the stop light down the street.

"There's my mommy and daddy" Tiera shouted jumping up and down.

Rose giggled at little Tiera's happiness "I see babydoll".

The light turned green and Tiera's parents were making there way down the street and Out of nowhere a tracker trailer came speeding from the side and smashed right into Tiera's parents truck. At that moment everything went into slow motion for Tiera and Ms. Rose.

"Oh my goodness" Ms. Rose yelled. Tiera instantly took off running down the street.

"Mommy... Daddy" yelled little Tiera as she continued to run.

It was like the closer she got the farther she thought she was. Once she was a few feet from the truck Ms. Rose came up and snatched Tiera up in her arms. Tiera was old enough to know what was going on she screamed out and wiggled to get out of Ms. Rose's tight grip but she couldn't.

People rushed over to the truck yanking on the bend up doors to try to get Tiera's parents out, but they couldn't the truck was wreaked horribly. What hurt Ms. Rose the most was that she knew for a fact by the way the car was totaled neither one of the parents were alive.... And she was right.

Both Tiera's mom and dad were gone.
.......................................................

Tiera stepped in her aunt Tammy's three bedroom house behind her. Tammy shared her home with her husband Sam and their eight year old daughter Jasmine.

"Come in baby" Aunt Tammy said as she closed the house door behind Tiera.
Tiera shyly stepped in the living room and instantly took in the scent of food cooking. Sam and Jasmine came into the living room to join Tammy and Tiera.
"Well hello Shontiera how are you"? Sam asked as he removed his apron from his waist.
Tiera shyly waved.
"Baby this is ya cousin Jasmine. Jasmine this is Tiera and she will be living with us now" Tammy said in a sweet cheerful voice.
Tiera waved, but Jasmine stuck her nose up at her. She never really knew them the last time she's seen them her and Jasmine were younger. Apparently Tammy and Tiera's mom had a bad agruement and decided it was best to stay away from each other, Bad way for sister's to be. Especially because Tammy had no clue that a few months ago would be the last time she would see her sister alive.
Sam cleared his throat and gave jasmine a stern look "Your always welcome here Tiera and again I'm sorry for your lost"Sam said. Tiera nodded her head and looked away, she wasn't ready to talk about her parents she still hadn't came to terms with their death.
Dinner went smoothly, it gave Tiera a change to get to know her only family she had left. Jasmine still hadn't really said anything to her and it kind of bothered her because she didn't understand why she was so mean to her.
After dinner Tammy showed Tiera to her room gave her fresh towels to take a bath then they part ways. It finally sunk in then that her parents were gone and never coming back to get her. She sat on the edge of the bed and cried her heart out for at least a good ten minutes.
She realized quick how one minute someone could be there and love you so much then with in a blink of a eye they could be gone. Sadly the last day she saw her parents was the last day she recieved her last kiss goodbye.
